The Covid-19 crisis drags on into its 5^th month here in the United States and some states are reactivating their precautions as the virus continues to spread exponentially. These can include social distancing, curfews, wearing masking in public, enclosed areas or heavily crowded streets, and closures of restaurants, bars, and other non-essential retail. Now, more than ever, we need a break and many people are finding that break by taking a nature hike or perhaps a social-distanced picnic away from other people. There are safe ways to do this and getting out in nature can give us a much-needed respite from all the bad news in the world right now.

Nature is still here but it is more valuable than it was before. This could be because we do not interact with it as much as we should. Being in nature is also beneficial to teens as well as full-grown adults. This is due to the idea that it is often calming and relaxing. Natural landscapes like rivers, mountains, and forests are usually found outside of the city This distance gives people a chance to escape their fast-paced world for a few moments of quiet.

Plus, being outside can give people a chance to exercise. Some may even only have one hour outside and going to a place unlike their house can boost their mental health. And give them space to reduce their stress and breath.

It can be argued that the value of being outdoors has increased since the outbreak. As mentioned many people have been under-lock down limiting their time in the great outdoors. A garden is nice but not everyone has one and it is not the same as a mountain range or forest.

Therefore, when people do go outside they should take advantage of their time. Being in nature can also have social benefits. Since you are outside you have more distance between you and people allow for meet-ups to be safe and possible.
