A truck driver in North Carolina has been charged with death by motor vehicle after causing a fatal accident involving three other vehicles on February 27, 2020. According to News & Record, William Anthony Miller, 59, was driving a tractor-trailer heading south on Sandy Ridge Road when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a pickup truck heading northbound. Inside that truck was 51-year-old John Hampton Wilkie of High Point.
Wilkie was pulling a utility trailer loaded with equipment at the time and the tractor-trailer was hauling “anhydrous ammonia, which can be used as an industrial cleaner or fertilizer,” says the source. After colliding with Wilkie’s truck, Miller then crashed head-on with an SUV that was being driven by Brian Lee Green, 47, also from High Point.
Police say Green’s vehicle collided with a Ford van being driven by 38-year-old Roshan Lamont Ham of High Point, who happened to be stopped on Kendale Road at the intersection. Police say Green died at the scene of the wreck, although Ham survived. Ham had to be transported to High Point Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Miller was not only charged with death by motor vehicle and drug paraphernalia, but he was also cited for a left of center traffic violation. Miller is due in court on April 6, 2020 in Guilford County District Court.

Another fatal truck accident was reported on the same day, this time involving a box truck. WFMY News 2 reported that three construction workers were killed after a box truck crashed into their work vehicle on I-40 in Iredell County. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. near mile marker 157, just east of Statesville.
Police say the accident occurred after 27-year-old Logan Casey, of Cary, failed to slow down and hit the construction vehicle that had been parked. The truck had an arrow board on it indicating the lane was closed. The source says that after the parked vehicle was hit, it was pushed forward and hit the three construction workers. Sadly, all three died at the scene.
