Key Companies in the Federal Edge Computing market include,
After IoT and 5G connectivity, edge computing is transforming federal governments, bringing advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to the network edge. This technology intersection, called edge solutions, helps agencies execute their highly distributed missions, such as patrolling the battlefield, conducting field inspections, and protecting borders by optimizing transportation networks. Most federal leaders view edge solutions as important to meet mission needs.
Edge computing is rapidly emerging as an intelligent instrumentation that allows more complex processes and applications to operate beyond their traditional boundaries. Given the extreme success that edge solutions have achieved in executing highly distributed missions, federal governments are looking forward to leveraging the benefits of these maturing technologies.
There are many leading edge solutions providers catering to federal agencies, such as AWS, Cisco, Dell Technologies, Google, EdgeIQ, HPE, Huawei, IBM, Litmus Automation, Intel, Microsoft, ADLINK, Nokia, Axellio, ClearBlade, Capgemini, Digi International, GE Digital, Sierra Wireless, EdgeConnex, Juniper Networks, Sunlight.io, Edgeworx, and Accenture Federal Services.
Among these players, Accenture Federal Services, a leading U.S. federal services company, announced winning a US$25 MN award from the U.S. Air Force to build a first-of-its-kind digital depot. The company has long been empowering the federal government to solve challenges, achieve greater outcomes, and build an agile, smart, and secure digital core.
In its announcement on Sept.13, 2023, the company mentioned that it will be using an approach that includes cloud, edge computing, and the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform to transform Air Force sustainment center operations. The digital transformation prime contract will help modernize operations for the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC), including the three Air Logistics Complexes (ALCs) Air Force Base at Tinker (Oklahoma), Robins (Georgia), and Hill (Utah) Air Force Base.
Accenture Federal Services is creating a new IIoT enterprise platform for the technology hosting environment of AFSC’s NextGen Automation (ATHENA) program. ATHENA is a central plan for the U.S. Air Force to create its first digital depot and, ultimately, modernize AFSC operations.
