Dishwashers are a gift to mankind. They take away one of the lengthiest chores of any household and automate it. most homes these days have a dishwasher. However, it may be your first time being in a home with a dishwasher, or using a dishwasher because your mother finally decided it is time for you to learn your chores, which is why you have come to this page looking for help.
Dishwashers are a slightly sophisticated piece of machinery when it comes to household tools and hence it can seem a little intimidating. However, once you read these instructions you will realize it is extremely easy to use, and is a real time saver.
There are a few steps to get to know how to use your dishwasher. We will go through them one by one, and by the end you will be able to pour the dishwasher detergent blindfolded (okay, maybe not blindfolded).
This is an important part because all dishwashers are different. The amount of water they require, the number of utensils they can hold, the dishwasher detergent they use, all of these differ from model to model, even within the same brand or range. So, make sure to know all these carefully.
Open the door of the dishwasher so that you can see all the parts inside. This will help you get to know them and plan where to put each utensil when you start using it.
This step is extremely important. As we mentioned earlier, each dishwasher may require a different type of dishwasher detergent. By performing this step, you will get to know which type of dishwasher detergent you have to use. There are a lot of dishwasher detergents for different dishwashers that you will be able to use.
Before starting out, make sure that the dishwasher is empty, that is, there are no utensils in the dishwasher.
In a lot of dishwashers, you will need to open the bottom rack to be able to put the plates in there. Make sure you do that because you don’t want to be in a rush and have to do that then. It’s always a good habit to prepare the dishwasher first.
Since this is your first time using a dishwasher, we will go really small. Just take one plate which is dirty to be washed in the dishwasher. However, before putting it in the dishwasher, you will have to make sure the plate is dishwasher safe, that is, not too brittle for the dishwasher.
Dishwashers do not work well when the plates have scraps and bits of food on the plate. It causes it to get unnecessarily dirty in places that are hard to clean. Make sure you scrape any such bits and pieces off the plate before putting it in the dishwasher. If you find that that the scrapes and bits have hardened and are difficult to come off, feel free to soak the plate. Remember that this step does not require any soap or dishwasher detergent.
Now that you have made the plate dishwasher usable, you can place it on the rack vertically. When loading the dishwasher completely, you can keep the other utensils like pans and pots around your dishes in any way you seem fit. But remember to check that the water sprayer is not blocked.
You have to make sure that you are using dishwasher detergent. This is because if you put regular liquid soap (which you use to wash dishes by hand) in dishwashers, you will end up with bubbles covering your kitchen floor entirely. Some chemical in the dishwasher detergent stops these bubbles from forming, allowing the detergent to only do its main job: cutting through the grease.
After pouring the dishwasher detergent, make sure the soap space is securely locked. You don’t want any spillage.
Most dishwashers have three types of cycles: heavy, normal, and light. Choose any one and then depending on the model, you will be indicated of your choice in some way.
There are various drying modes for the dishwasher as well. Choose any one of them and just like before, you will be indicated of your choice in some way.
Now you can just sit back and let the dishwasher do its work.
While some of these steps have to be repeated each time, the other steps will become second nature with repeated practice. It is easier than it looks.
