Governor John Carney was born in Wilmington and raised in Claymont. For over 30 years he worked for the people of Delaware. John took office as the 74th Governor of Delaware in January 2017, focusing on improving the competitiveness of Delaware’s economy, preparing Delaware’s children for success, and developing a long-term sustainable financial plan for Delaware.

DE RELIEF GRANTS: $ 150 million
The John Carney has announced $ 100 Million DE Relief Grants Program will help Delaware small businesses and related nonprofits hit by the COVID-19 crisis. The program, funded by the federal CARES law, is expected to reach over 3,000 organizations. The amount of the subsidy will depend on the company’s revenue for 2019.
DE Relief grants can be used to:
Nonprofit Foundation: $ 25 Million
The $ 25 million Delaware Nonprofit Foundation will support organizations that provided critical services to families in Delaware and Delaware during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonprofits can receive compensation for basic operating costs such as help with detergents and funding for personal protective equipment, as well as compensation for increased workload. The program does not include organizations that are eligible for the $ 100 million DE Relief Grants program administered by the Delaware Division of Small Business.

BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE: $ 20 Million
Delaware will channel $ 20 million of CARES Act funds to build new broadband infrastructure throughout Delaware, collect strategic data through statewide speed surveys, and purchase equipment and services for families in need.
The state will also use CARES funds to cover the cost of installing equipment and broadband services for low-income students across the state for distance learning or hybrid education. Additional information on this program will be announced in the coming weeks.
HOUSING ASSISTANCE: $ 40 million
Assistance is provided with rent and mortgages to keep Delaware families in their homes. The State of Delaware and New Castle County will add a shared $ 40 million in financial support under the CARES proceed to give payments to capable applicants for the Delaware Housing Assistance plan or the Delaware crisis Mortgage Assistance Program.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: US $ 15 million

MEDICAL CARE FUND: 100 MILLION DOLLARS
The governor John Carney’s Healthcare Assistance Fund will support healthcare providers who have been at the forefront of the COVID-19 response in Delaware. It includes:
Healthy Communities Delaware, a state-wide public-private partnership aimed at addressing the social determinants of health, will also receive funding for distribution to communities in Delaware disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
