Mark (The Undertaker) believed he let Roman and the fans down in the ring, something which haunted him for an entire year. Recently, Reigns also opened up about the WrestleMania 33 main event, and how it affected him going forward, as a performer.

Reigns spoke about his experience immediately after the match, and how disappointed he was after it. “I just sat in one of these little chairs and cried. It was such an emotional overload, for bad reasons and for good reasons too.

“As a perfectionist, I think Mark can agree that we had such an awesome story. If it had all went perfectly… Aw man, it would have been so fire.

Roman Reigns changed after the Wrestlemania 33 match

The match was supposed to be legendary, to say the least. Reigns did not know until after the match that the Undertaker needed a hip replacement surgery. He talked about the insanely high bar set by the match, and how he felt when he couldn’t meet it at all.

I remember my cousins [The Usos] and I skipped out on the after-party, and I didn’t get back to the hotel until like 2 a.m. because we drank all night and talked.

Having a matchup with the Undertaker was always a huge deal in the WWE. Any wrestler would be absolutely privileged to share the ring with the Deadman, under the big lights. Reigns seemed utterly destroyed, that he couldn’t make the best of his matchup with The Undertaker.

I probably shed a few more tears that night too, I had so many hopes and aspirations to take advantage of that man’s time and do right by him, and I just felt like I failed that situation.

Reigns has been a top-tier performer in the WWE since. He has been the face of the company and has given fans many more exciting bouts.

Roman revealed that the botched WrestleMania match inspired him to perform better, “It just lit a fire under my ass. I don’t think I had a bad match since.

Reigns has fallen out of the public eye since WrestleMania this year. However, fans can expect him back soon, as he teased an appearance back into WWE.
