The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) called in for application for astronauts as ‘Artemis Generation’. In response to that, the U.S based space agency received around 12000 applications of candidates willing to join NASA.
“Artemis Generation” is a different class of astronauts that will help agency in returning humans back to moons and to explore hidden corners of the red planet, Mars. This is the second-highest number of applications the space agency has received.
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine stated in a statement today, “We have begun a bold new era of space research with the Artemis program, and we are excited to see so many incredible Americans apply to join us.”
When NASA ( National Aeronautics and Space Administration) put out the call for this different class of astronauts in February, the officials already expected the huge number of applications they would receive.
After many years of flying in low Earth orbit, NASA ( National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is again planning for reaching to the moon with its Artemis program. This program is aimed to land the first woman and the next man to step on the moon by 2024.
The officials at the Space Agency expect to continue ascending on to Mars in the 2030s. Once selected, this new class of astronauts would help the space agency to discover the hidden secrets of the Moon and the Red Planet.
