As designers, some of the tools we use most often are pens and penknives. Usually, we mark our material with a pen first, before cutting it out. However, it’s not always so smooth, since we’ll also usually have a cluttered workspace, and waste time in searching for one tool or the other.
The MarkCutter helps to solve this problem, by combining 2 items into 1 neat package in an aluminium body. This keeps the product durable and sturdy, standing up to long-term usage.
On one end, is a pen with a bolt-action mechanism, which keeps the pen short and stops it from being awkward in handling. It uses a Zebra F 0.7mm ink, so you can continue to use the product indefinitely.
On the other end, is a penknife. It accommodates a #11 X-Acto blade, which is a common type of penknife blade that can be found affordably in many craft stores. With a thin blade, it is also very precise in cutting.
The cap is also made of aluminium, which covers the blade when not in use. It comes off easily, and can be fitted over the pen side when the blade is being used, keeping it all together.
The MarkCutter will be delivered in a box with a sleeve over it, and will also come with a foam insert to keep it from rattling around.
Some challenges could be that it may take a while for me to get everything delivered on time, since it’s an individual project. I will try my best to do everything ahead of time.
