Sometimes it’s hard to act like a child…when everything inside of me wants to be wild.
Howdy and welcome to the Kickstarter page for Sometimes I’m An Animal! After my first son was born, I started realizing how playful, imaginative and animal-like kids really are. That’s when I wrote Sometimes I’m An Animal. After many years of false starts I finally found the perfect illustrator (my son’s art teacher!!!) and we’re ready to share the book with the world.
Each page features a little boy pretending to be a different animal that he shares a physical or personality trait with. A sneaky fox. A disheveled lion. A lazy lizard. A messy pig. A night owl. A speeding cheetah. Et cetera.

This isn’t high brow literature but I think you’re really going to enjoy reading this with the kiddos in your life! And really, this book is all about the pictures. Nolan has done a wonderful job capturing the spirit and idea behind the book.
For this Kickstarter campaign we’re offering the book in paperback and hardcover with dust jacket, plus you can snag five of the pictures in limited edition prints (see below). Take a look at the pledge options because we’ve also got a teacher discount (we love educators!) as well as a discount for buying multiple copies of the book.
Thank you for checking out our Kickstarter page! Whether you make a pledge or not I think it’s awesome that you read this far down. Attention spans are, like, really short these days.
This is our first rodeo, so to speak, so realistically any aspect of the project might get wonky. Our main objective is to find a printer who can print quality books at a reasonable price. We think we’ve found that, but we won’t really know until the book is in our hands. Volume is a big factor in creating any sort of profit margin and we can’t know what sort of interest the book will garner. Maths is hard, but we’ve tried our best to set the prices where we can print the book without going into debt. Fingers crossed.
