Wrestling and gaming fans – welcome to Indie Wrestler.
Indie Wrestler is an RPG mobile game; made by wrestling fans for wrestling fans. The idea behind it is pretty simple – we wanted to give you the opportunity to create a character and take them to the top of the wrestling world. How do you do that? By getting yourself over. Have great matches, cut promos and win titles. You get to train your wrestler, work for different promotions, upgrade your gear and even react to online gossip, rumours and innuendo. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s truly a unique game that hasn’t been developed for the wrestling scene before.
You start by choosing your character and attend a wrestling school. There, you will learn the basics of how to perform moves, cut promos and train your wrestler. This will give you the opportunity to perfect the basics of the game to in order to give yourself the best chance of succeeding once you graduate from the wrestling school.
Once you’re ready, it will be time to reach out to promotions to see if they’ll book you for shows. You’ll have to negotiate how much you’ll get paid and how many dates the promoter wants to book you for. Depending on how well your matches go, you will then get more/less opportunities to work for other promotions and get more over. The more over you get, the more likely it is that you can command a higher fee and promoters will want to make you their champion.
The ultimate goal of the game is to make it to the biggest promotion in the game and become their world champion. And then test your long term drawing power out to see how long you can stay on top for.
So, if there’s no actual wrestling in the game, how do matches actually take place? Once you a promoter books you for a show, you’ll have a choice of opponents for that show. Once you choose who you’re going to wrestle, the wrestler will tell you what’s going to be the result of the match (whether that’s a victory, DQ, count out or no finish) and you’ll then head in to your match. You’ll initially see running commentary of what is happening in the match itself before being prompted to perform a move yourself. You’ll then get presented with either a power, submission or high risk move to complete. Depending on how well you perform that particular move will impact how well that match goes for you. In a non-title match, there will be three times that you’ll be asked to perform moves and that number increases to five times in a championship match. If you do your moves perfectly, you’ll be over big time. Botch them badly and you’ll not only lose some of your popularity but you’ll also run the risk of injuring yourself or your opponent.
But how do you progress and improve your chances of getting over? They’re a bunch of different and unique elements in the game itself. The first is upgrading your character. Throughout the game, you will be given the opportunity to upgrade the gear on your wrestler. You can purchase a new jacket, maybe get a mask or facepaint, add new boots or just completely change the entire look of your wrestler. As your overall characters look gets better, the more over you become.
Beyond that, there is more than just having matches and upgrading your gear. You will also get the opportunity to cut promos on opponents, respond to media (with both positive and negative stories for you to respond to), train your wrestler and pay for travel so that you can travel around. All of these impact how your character is viewed by fans, promoters and other wrestlers and ultimately impacts how over you are in the game.
We already have a number of wrestlers, promotions and media on board – with more joining every day. As you may have seen from our promotion material, professional wrestlers Adam Maxted and Rampage Brown are potential opponents that you may face at some stage in the game. Alongside them, we have promotions from the UK including New Generation Wrestling, FutureShock Wrestling, Tidal Championship Wrestling, Wrestlegate Pro (and more), Over The Top Wrestling from Ireland, German Wrestling Federation and Westside Xtreme Wrestling from Germany, Heartland Championship Wrestling from the USA, Australasian Wrestling Federation from Australia and Pro Wrestling Society from South Korea(!).
And this is your chance to be part of the game too. Through some of our pledges, you can immortalise yourself as a wrestler, a champion or even create your own promotion where you’ll be the promoter. You can get to choose your wrestling name and choose which territory you want to be in. This is a great chance to not only support our game, but also immortalise yourself as players from around the world will come up against you as a wrestler or work in your promotion. Anyone who becomes a promoter will also get the chance to choose how they interact with wrestlers and how they respond to wrestlers’ demands.
But if you want to do something truly unique, then we are offering you the chance to get a fully bespoke and custom designed character for yourself. Our concept artist will take your vision for a wrestling character and draw him as you want. You get to choose your hair, facial features and gear from tops to boots. That will then be created by our 3D modeler who will make the character for you to play the game as well as a character in the game for others to face. It’s a wonderful opportunity to boast to all your friends about how you are a champion in one of the most unique mobile wrestling games ever made.

A lot of the ground work for the game, from the graphics to the logic to partnerships, have already been done. Our biggest challenges will come in the development phase of the game. For anyone who has worked with any type of development, you’ll know that things can get delayed or problems can arise in the code itself. Thankfully our team has years of experience when it comes to these projects and we’re sure we’ll be able to overcome any issues that we encounter along the journey.
