A Salt Lake City, UT man has been arrested after causing an accident involving multiple vehicles. KSL reported that on February 27, 2020, Zachary Sullivan Richardson, 28, was driving on West Temple in a pickup truck traveling between 60 to 70 mph. He ran a red light at 200 South and hit two cars as a result. The impact caused both of those vehicles to roll.
Richardson’s vehicle then collided into three parked cars on West Temple causing those vehicles to sustain major damage. Richardson then exited his vehicle and attempted to run away. Shortly after fleeing the accident scene, Richardson was detained by police. Thankfully, officials said that there were no serious injuries reported.
Police stated that Richardson was “unsteady on his feet, falling asleep and had pinpoint eyes.” He then “became unresponsive” and was transported to an area hospital. Following his visit to the hospital, Richardson was then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
The news source reported that results from the blood test that was performed were pending. He was arrested “for investigation of DUI, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.” The news source reported that this wasn’t Richardson’s only run-in with the law. In 2017, he “took a plea in abeyance to a charge of drug possession, which resulted in the charge being dismissed after he completed probation.

This accident involved 46-year-old Wilonja Lusungu and 31-year-old Mavil Labra. The accident took place at 2700 South 300 West, says KUTV and resulted in Lusungu sustaining serious injuries and Labra suffering fatal injuries.
Lusungu was said to be in critical condition after the collision and was transported to the hospital for treatment. After being discharged, he was later booked into jail and has been charged with causing a fatal DUI accident.
