The Big Love Show (TBLS) is an interactive installation showcasing 10+ local artists and designers on the theme of love, emotions, and connection. The exhibition will encourage viewers to engage with contemporary art, immersing them in a space where they are invited to view and make emotional, physical or aesthetic connections. This exhibition will facilitate the engagement of local audience with local creatives, making space for a community that is co-constructed.
The pop up exhibition was created and directed by Lily Taylor (me!). It’s a chance for each artist to create work based on a theme and allow for the development of new audiences. It’s also a chance for the community to enjoy a free immersive installation experience. Many people have donated their time and hard work to this event and I wish to thank them for lending me a hand. This project is entirely community funded and supported.
The purpose of this Kickstarter is to raise funds to cover costs of the artists, hired assistants for installation, and construction of the exhibition. I will be announcing some pledge awards in the next little while. Otherwise, anything you’d like to donate will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
TBLS is a free event for the community to enjoy. Drinks will be provided by Bannerman Brewery at the cash bar. Music for the exhibition was composed by Nick Bendzsa. TBLS is an LGBTQ2S+ friendly space.
My fundraising goals are designed to include everyone who is participating or installing the show. However if we are able to cover these costs I will be extending our funds to go towards the bands who are performing (currently volunteering their time). If we don’t make our intended amount I will be volunteering my time directing and creating in order to cover costs of everyone else. Another set back is that the show is not wheelchair accessible. For future events I wish to host in an event space that is accessible in all forms.
