Bikes are awesome, but after a while the initial thrill of excitement can wear off. We wanted that excitement back again. We wanted a challenge.
Do you remember the first time you rode a bike? With all the excitement that brought with it. The opening up of new opportunities to use this new skill and ride to places you’d never been before. To learn new abilities and try new things.
With a Helyx you get to experience that again.
You start looking a things differently, how can I ride over that?
Some people ask why. We ask why not?
The Helyx is designed to fit a wide range of sizes. Anyone between 4’10 and 6’2 will fit comfortably.
The Helyx is made with high quality components and has the benefits of a normal bike. The frame is TIG-welded steel and powder coated for a hard-wearing attractive finish.
When you need to get somewhere fast you lock the back and just ride it like a regular bike.
We’ve seen a lot of first time riders now, and it’s surprising how quickly you pick it up.
When people ride the Helyx for the first time they usually try riding in a straight line, then after a few minutes, something clicks and suddenly it’s like you’ve been riding it for years.
Getting back on a ‘normal’ bike tends to be something along the lines of “Why can’t my feet move anymore?!”
And then something like this… (when you’re ready)
Helyx bikes are made in our own bike workshop here in the UK. We have been making bikes since 2014. Our manufacturing process uses several custom made CNC bike frame machines. That’s how we get that nice bend in the middle..
We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the handling of the bike is just right. It took 3 prototypes and one with variable geometry – that could be changed during a ride with just a spanner, and lots of CAD modelling.
We believe this is the perfect design for a twin steering bike. It is easy to ride, super manoeuvrable and agile.

We are ready to start production and so can get bikes to backers quickly. Delivery will start next spring!
Is it road legal?
As far as we know the Helyx is regarded in the same way as any other bike and can be ridden anywhere a normal bike can be. Don’t ride where you shouldn’t. If you’re not sure don’t ride.
Is it safe?
This is a bike so it is possible to fall off! Ride within your abilities and use protective gear where appropriate.
How are Helyx bikes made?
The bikes are made in London UK in our own bike shop. Some people ask why we don’t outsource. The truth is once you have added the extra costs of visits, time spent specifying the parts, shipping, increasing wages, and in-house quality assurance processes you don’t save much. We have developed expertise in the mass production of bike frames and are able to efficiently and consistently produce high quality products. Bikes are then assembled in their entirety by one person to make sure every bike is exactly as it should be. They are then quality assessed by an second member of staff to ensure they are all perfect before being dispatched.
What if it breaks?
Helyx will continue to support all bikes by providing spares and repairs as long as the company exists. Most of the components (apart from the frame) on a Helyx are standard bike parts and available from local bike outlets. If however something is not as it should be we will seek to replace it.
How do I look after it?
Helyx bikes benefit from exactly the same bike maintenance as would any other bike.
Will it fit me?
See the dimensions diagram. Helyx is designed to fit a wide range of heights from 4’10 to 6’4.
How do I choose the color I’d like?
Select the color you would like after clicking the pledge button
Do I need to assemble it?
Yes. To save space the bikes are shipped with the wheels, handlebars and pedals removed. These can be reattached in minutes using the tools included with the bike. A video will be available describing this process.
Can you ship it to where I live?
We are shipping worldwide. Shipping fees vary depending on where you are. Click on a reward at the top right to see postage fees to your area.
Taxes and Duties?
Some delivery areas will incur taxes and import duties. These will need to be paid for when taking collection of the bike from the delivery service. Backers are responsible so please check your own countries taxes and duties.
Will I ever want another bike?
Absolutely not! Well… maybe eventually.
We have been extremely thorough in planning how these bikes are to be made. This process has been verified by the production of the first six complete bikes which are the same as the final customer bikes. The three frame pieces we make in house use a proprietary fabrication process that has already proved itself. The majority of the rest of the bike are standard bike components that are to be bought in from the best available supplier. Because of the nature of manufacturing, plans may naturally deviate from expectations when actual production is initiated. We can plan down to the last detail but if a problem does arise or a supplier incurs their delays or problems then the project will slow down. Fortunately suppliers can be negotiated with or changed, production processes can be optimised, and the bikes can be tweaked and improved. The most obvious risk are delays which inconvenience both the producer and the customer, this is something we are determined to avoid, but is an inevitable possibility for all manufacturers. We have limited the number of bikes we will make for this crowdfund explicitly for the purpose of protecting our backers. This campaign is to start the company after all and not to achieve every order it will ever have. By limiting the availability of bikes we eliminate the possibility of rushing delivery, over stretching and compromising on quality. We are here to give every backer exactly what they expect and deserve so that the Helyx bike brand proves itself and goes on to thrive. Helyx promises to keep all backers closely informed of all relevant developments during production on a regular basis. It is after all, the backers that we are here to serve and whose trust we have been granted.
