After unlocking our first goal so quickly we now have our 2nd stretch goal ready to unlock.
If we can hit £1,700 then the book will be extended to 28 pages of content (that’s a full 32 pages including covers). With these extra pages we’ll also be including an additional story.
The target is a big ask but this will cover all of the art and printing costs built up by adding another story to the anthology.
First up is this awesome sew on patch for the summer camp our main characters are attending, designed by Campfire Stories artist Sammy Ward.
I’ve got a few more ideas in mind for other goals but those will only be revealed should we hit our first one.
Campfire Stories is a 24 page comic anthology containing four tales of terror. Suggested for mature readers.
Having arrived early to Ruby Rivers Summer Camp, five camp counselors decide to tell the scariest stories and local legends they know. From monstrous creatures to conniving witches and the horrors of a dark forest. Campfire Stories spans 60 years with each story set in a different decade and told through a variety of horror styles.
The anthology is illustrated by Kevin Keane, Raquel Kusiak, Garry Mac and Sammy Ward, lettered by Zakk Saam, written by Asa Wheatley and wrapped in a fantastically atmospheric and spooky cover by Natasha Alterici.
Campfire Stories was born from my fascination and obsession with horror films, comics, and stories. This story in particular is one I’ve been dying to tell since I started writing comics.
Each of the tales within the anthology represents a different part of the horror medium that I love, whether it’s a creature feature or a slow burn psychological horror there’s a bit of everything in Campfire Stories.
You can check out a preview of the first two pages as well as some of my favourite non-spoilery panels below.
If you enjoy the thrill of a fright you’ll definitely like Campfire Stories.
Some of the films and comics that inspired Campfire Stories include, Friday the 13th, Hack/Slash, Blair Witch, Nailbiter, Trick ‘r Treat, and Dead of Night.
We’ve got some awesome rewards available including both digital and physical editions of Campfire Stories. As well as that there’s a selection of fantastic A4 prints inspired by the comic from guest artists Alice Urbino, Dean Beattie and Zoe Thorogood as well as the unlettered cover art by Natasha Alterici.
We’re also lucky enough to have the stunning original pieces for two of these prints on offer. There’s only one of each so once they’re gone they’re gone! Don’t miss out.
At the time of starting this campaign the majority of the art is complete and progress will continue while the kickstarter is live with lettering likely to take place towards the end of November.
I have successfully run and fulfilled a kickstarter campaign previously as well as printed multiple comics so there shouldn’t be any problems with fulfillment or printing.
I am confident if any problems do arise I will be equipped to deal with them and will be transparent with backers should any delays occur.
