1010data was founded in 2000 by pioneers of large-scale data systems on Wall Street. Drawing on that experience and newly available technologies, the company developed a web-based service and the underlying software that makes it easy to acquire, organize, manage, and analyze large volumes of complex, interrelated data.
The data management architecture developed by 1010data differs significantly from other database software; in theory, it is almost infinitely scalable – simply, cheaply, expediently, and reliably. It is architected to handle multi-terabyte databases at a fraction of the cost and with much higher performance than other data management approaches.
Before co-founding 1010data, Mr. Steier was a Vice President and manager of research and technology at UBS North America, where he supported several trading desks and contributed significantly to the evolution of the firm into a leader in the use of advanced technologies.
Previously, as Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers, Mr. Steier led the effort to migrate mortgage-backed securities analytical programming from mainframes to workstations.
Earlier in his career, while a Vice President at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Steier was responsible for product development and analysis of fixed-income securities. He pioneered the research and development of many complex financial instruments and designed and implemented the software required to analyze them.
A 40-year veteran of the technology and financial services industries, Mr. Joel Kaplan is widely recognized as a leader in the use of technology on Wall Street. Before co-founding 1010data, Mr. Kaplan was Managing Director and head of research and technology for all non-equity trading at UBS North America. Previously, Mr. Kaplan was Managing Director and head of Global Fixed Income Research and Technology at Morgan Stanley and was responsible for that firm’s widely recognized technological superiority.
Earlier at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Kaplan led the Analytical Proprietary Trading Group (APTG), renowned for being the first to employ scientific methodologies to uncover and exploit inefficiencies in the stock market. Under his leadership, the APTG traded as much as two percent of the New York Stock Exchange’s daily volume because of the high degree of real-time automation it provided. Earlier in his career, Mr.
A veteran of analytics, Goodarzi has lead several teams in designing, building and delivering predictive analytics and business analytical products to a diverse set of industries.
Prior to joining 1010data, Goodarzi was the Managing Director of Mortgage at Equifax, responsible for the creation of new data products and supporting analytics to the financial industry. Previously, he lead the development of various classes of predictive models aimed at the mortgage industry during his tenure at Loan Performance (Core Logic).
Earlier on he had worked at BlackRock, the research center for NYNEX (present day Verizon) and Norkom Technologies. Goodarzi’s publications span the fields of data mining , data visualization, optimization , and artificial intelligence.
With a 30-year history of driving the performance and sales of enterprise and retail software companies, Mr. Mattecheck recently joined 1010data as the Vice President of retail services.
As a senior vice president and general manager at SAP, Mr. Mattecheck was instrumental in helping the company enter the retail market, working closely with retailers during go-live projects on the SAP platform.
As the leader of a retail-focused group at Oracle, Mr. Mattecheck facilitated the introduction of an “architected best-in-class” solution for the retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.
In just three years, his leadership helped grow the business by more than 500 percent, allowing the group to capture 60 new global customers.
Mr. Albert brings the skills he developed in the financial services industry to bear in leading the development of new 1010data solutions aimed at the financial markets. This industry has increasingly used 1010datas cloud-based analytics platform to gain deeper insights into large data sets in order to improve business decisions.
He previously launched new information and analytics businesses at Equifax and MasterCard Advisors and grew them into multi-million dollar organizations that served dozens of buy and sell-side firms. Prior to that, he was head of Market Strategy for Equifax’s Consumer Information Solutions business and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company.
As Chief Scientist at 1010data, Dr. Adam Jacobs brings both a generalist’s multidisciplinary orientation and over 20 years of deep experience in high-performance scientific computing, functional programming, and parallel processing to the task of designing and building the company’s core analytical functionality.
Prior to joining 1010data, Dr. Jacobs was a computational neuroscientist at Weill Cornell Medical College and at UCLA, with earlier stints at Preference Metrics LLC in San Francisco, the Neuromorphic Systems Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Coopers & Lybrand LLP. He holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UC Berkeley and a B.A. in linguistics from Columbia University and has authored or co-authored over 15 scholarly publications in several fields.
T.C. Fleming brings to 1010data over 16 years of corporate finance experience.Prior to joining 1010data, Inc., T.C. was a director in Duff & Phelps’ Corporate Finance Consulting practice. Most recently, T.C. served as a senior advisor to the U.S. Bankruptcy on certain finance and accounting issues arising from the Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy .
Previously, T.C. was the CFO and Senior Equity Analyst with an alternative investment fund focused on small- to mid-cap investments. Earlier in his career, T.C. spent nine years working at Deloitte in their Transaction Advisory and Assurance practices.
T.C. received his M.B.A. in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and his BBA in accounting and computer applications (double major) from the University of Notre Dame. He is a certified public accountant licensed in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Munves leads 1010data’s worldwide sales and business development organization. His oversight has led the company to win over 200 customers.
During his tenure he has also forged over 25 partnerships with leading companies. For over 8 years Mr. Munves has focused on building and implementing firm-wide growth strategies.
The development of these strategic growth initiatives have effectively expanded his focus to include retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), telecommunications and all other areas that demand leading edge Big Data solutions.
Previously he led the financial services division, which grew to more than 100 mortgage and securities focused customers. Additionally, he plays a key role in the operational functions of the company.
Jed Alpert joined WebCollage in March of 2006 and is Vice President of Marketing.
Prior to WebCollage, Jed was Assistant Director of Marketing at CT Corporation, a division of Wolters Kluwer.
Jed has also served as Director of Product Marketing and Business Development for InterWorld, a business-to-business and business-to-consumer, ecommerce software company. At InterWorld, Jed developed and launched multiple versions of their flagship product, Commerce Exchange, and worked on strategic relationships.
Jed began his career in consulting with the Washington, D.C.-based Advisory Board Company.
Jed holds a BA from Emory University and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
Jon brings to NVP more than 15 years of investment experience. Based in NVPs Palo Alto office, Jon is focused on investing across a wide range of sectors including information services, software, business services, financial services and consumer. His current investments include 1010data, Clarus Marketing Group, FreeShipping.com, Manta Media, PICS Auditing, The Rainmaker Group, The Retail Equation and ToPo Athletic.
Prior to joining NVP, Jon was a Director at Goldman Sachs, where he headed the San Francisco, California office for the firms Americas Special Situations Group. In this role, he focused on growth equity investments from $15 million to $200 million across a variety of industries, while leading all aspects of the deal process.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Jon spent nearly 10 years at TA Associates in Menlo Park, a private equity firm with $16 billion in capital under management.
