Michael L Gilmore was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and attended the local public schools. He is a graduate of prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English. The great philosopher Aristotle once said, “All men (women) by nature desire knowledge.” Being driven for further knowledge, Gilmore went on to receive his Master of Education (M.Ed) in English, and a Specialist of Education (Ed.S.) in Higher Education Administration from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
