An implementation for the Peace
On the 6th of June 1944, Normandy was the theatre of Operation Overlord, the biggest military operation ever planned. At 6:30 AM, thousands of soldiers landed in Normandy in order to liberate France and Europe from the Nazis.
70 years later, we have not forgotten anything.
That is why the 6th of June 2014 was devoted to remembrance, and to the bravery of our war veterans and nations who, one day, chose Liberty over resignation. Every nation that took part in this landing, which deeply changed the world, decided to gather on one of these beaches, Sword Beach, where everything started.
The memory of those two worldwide known historic days should not be lost. That’s why, the city of Ouistreham Riva-Bella would like to build a “Promenade for Peace” on Sword Beach, one of the symbolic places of D-Day in 1944, but also the place where all the Nations gathered around our veterans in 2014.
But what will remain of all that for the younger generation, once all our veterans are gone ?
The memory of those two worldwide known historic days should not be lost. That’s why, the city of Ouistreham Riva-Bella would like to build a “Promenade for Peace” on Sword Beach, one of the symbolic places of D-Day in 1944, but also the place where all the Nations gathered around our veterans in 2014. During that ceremony, Léon Gautier, member of the French Commando “Kieffer” and Jöhannes Börner, German parachutist, have given themselves a gesture of Peace to celebrate the Peace in Europe.
After a first call for donations, Norway, the Prince of Monaco, the United-Kingdom, the Calvados Department, many French and European deputies, some senators, and finally many cities of all around the France.
Now, the City of Ouistreham RIva-Bella offer the possibility to each persons to participate financialy for the implemetation of that Memorial on Sword Beach
Each contribution will allow us to put vizual units of the Nations invovled during the Second World War. There vizual units will give a memory dimension for the new generations.
Each slice of 5000 euros (4257 livres sterling or 5307 dollars) completed will allow us to put vizual units on the Promenade.
The City of Ouistreham have launch this great campagn for the remebrance. The objectif of that implementation is the celebration of the Peace and the union of all european Nations during 70 years now.
