Dallas, Texas, May 22, 2018. Nationally recognized trial firm, Reid Collins & Tsai LLP, has added partner Michael Yoder to its growing roster of insolvency litigation attorneys. The move reunites Yoder with several of his former mentors and colleagues and will help the firm to build upon its success in plaintiff’s complex commercial and insolvency litigation.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to join Reid Collins & Tsai,” Yoder said in a statement. “Having previously worked with many partners at the firm, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what they bring to the table as lawyers and as colleagues. The dynamic environment is a perfect fit for me as I continue to grow my practice.”
“We know Michael well and are excited that he has decided to join our firm,” founding partner Bill Reid said in a statement. “Michael has spent most of his career working on complex litigation arising out of insolvency matters, one of our core practice areas. He also has notable appellate experience, which dovetails with our recent landmark victories before the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court restricting the scope of the section 546(e) safe harbor defense in Merit Management, and before the Dallas Court of Appeals affirming a $288 million fraud and breach of contract judgment against Credit Suisse in Claymore.”
Prior to joining Reid Collins & Tsai, Yoder was a partner of Diamond McCarthy LLP. Yoder has represented bankruptcy trustees, litigation trustees, and similar clients in pursuing claims against directors and officers, law firms, banks, auditors, and other third parties, for fraudulent transfers, professional malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, and other business torts. Among his many accomplishments, Yoder served as one of the principal attorneys that led the factual investigation of third-party claims arising from several well-known Ponzi schemes and frauds, including USA Capital, Syntax-Brillian Corp., RE Loans, and International Manufacturing Group, Inc.
Yoder also has acted for clients in state and federal appellate matters, including briefing and arguing a successful appeal before the Third Circuit involving the scope of actual fraudulent transfers under Chapter 5 of the Bankruptcy Code, and briefing a successful appeal in the Seventh Circuit involving applicability of in pari delicto to a Cayman liquidator.
Yoder earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2006, and his B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Rice University in 2003. Yoder also obtained a M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2015, where he also served as an adjunct professor teaching environmental law.
