Feed the Kids in Peru!’
Some beautiful mountains…
Deep in the Andes Mountains, in the Sacred Valley of Peru, the world’s most direct descendants of the Inca Empire live in extreme poverty. The villages of this region are very isolated and lack access to public services. Young children walk up to two hours just to attend elementary school, and up to 4 hours each way to attend high school.
With hungry children
Unfortunately, the children that walk so far often do not have a good meal to eat for the entire day. Studies show that hungry children struggle to concentrate in class, have daily headaches and stomach aches, and have difficulty concentrating because they are hungry. In short, it is difficult to learn.
Path of the Heart feeds these kids!
Path of the Heart encourages children to obtain an education to be able to achieve at their highest potential. We hope that by improving the lives of children in the Sacred Valley and surrounding communities, they will be inspired to give back to their communities and make a difference in their country.
For over 15 years, we have conducted a children’s soup kitchen or “restaurant” to feed the children of a poor community in the Sacred Valley. Recently, we opened a larger facility in the native community of Ccorao. Hot lunches are served daily at the “restaurant” during the school week to between 100 and 120 children all year long. Many of these children walk hours from their villages to attend school. Now, they have a hot meal in their belly before their long walk home. Without the restaurant this may be the only meal of the day for many. The facility, named the “Restaurant of the Universal Heart” provides meals free of charge. Now that we are feeding more kids, and the cost of everything continues to rise, funds are greatly needed to continue this project.
You can join us
It basically costs us $.65 to feed one child one hot meal. Adopt a kid for the year for $150. Or 2 kids for a month for $26. You get the idea. You do the math.
Path of the Heart is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Peru and the U.S. 100% of our donations are used to feed the children.
