My students are awesome fifth grade kids with warm hearts, insightful ideas, grateful thoughts, and most of all they have a love and passion for learning and being in school. Our school is a Title 1 high-needs school with children facing struggles that many would never dream of. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch, live in poverty stricken homes, and would GREATLY appreciate and benefit of seeing every day that they can reach for the stars and become better learners and scientists.

Could I possibly be teaching the next scientist that will find the cure for cancer? Will the requested hands-on manipulatives such as the take-apart human body model spark a love for the study of science? Our classroom will have several STEM projects during the year including the study of the body. The body in itself is a remarkable machine that scientists are still discovering its wonders. The study of the body will enable my students to understand how important it is to eat right, exercise regularly, and treat your body with respect. The other manipulatives such as the rock, fossil, and mineral collections will be used in another STEM project that involves the properties of earth.
