I teach 20 kindergarten children in a high-poverty area of New Mexico. Our school is Title I and our student population receives 100% free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners. Our school focuses on collaboration and learning amongst the students by using Kagan structures. My students are bright and love to learn new things that will keep them engaged in their learning. They are excited to work with new tools to help them explore through hands on experiences and through play. I’m excited to help them grow to their fullest!
My students will benefit greatly from having new journals ready for them and the re-useable materials will help us have new writing centers ready and available to use over and over again. Many times students come to kindergarten without strength in their fingers and they will be able to perfect their finger positions on their pencils by utilizing the writing claws.
Writing is truly a tremendous way for students to put their knowledge of letters and sounds to use and help them put reading skills into context.
Our materials will be utilized during committees in both literacy and math. My students will be able to learn and be successful in all areas.
