This is Kylee’s story.
“My story is hard to talk about.
Less than five years ago I wasn’t able to work, be part of my daughter’s schooling life or simply leave the house. For years I did not have control of my bladder, due to my battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). But today, with the help of the clinicians in the Urology Unit at The Prince of Wales Hospital, I have my life back.
I am no longer frustrated or anxious. I am able to participate in my daughter’s life without being nervous. Lyla, my eight year old daughter, is thrilled that she can now enjoy
my company while I volunteer at school and coach her netball
team,” said Kylee.
This year Kylee decided to become a champion to those who’ve helped get her life back.
Right now Kylee is championing the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation’s fundraising efforts to raise vital funds for six pieces of equipment which will help patients within the Urology Unit.
“Through years of treatment, I’ve realised the importance of continuously upgrading equipment which will benefit patients like me,” said Kylee.
Right now we need the help of the community to help raise $82,000 to make sure we can provide the best care possible to patients like Kylee. The funds raised will help the vital upgrade of two bladder scanners, a patient transport monitor, two patient blood pressure oxygen saturation machines and an ECG machine.
Your gift will change the lives of so many patients at The Prince of Wales Hospital.
With your help we will buy:
Right now you have the chance to help us purchase six pieces of equipment.
One ECG machine: $20,000
Two Patient Blood Pressure Oxygen Saturation Machines: $4,000 each
One Patient Transport Monitor: $18,000
Two Bladder Scanners: $18,000 each
Total Cost: $82,000
Who is behind this campaign?
Hi, I am Associate Professor Leanne M. Zalapa, though everyone calls me Lulu. I am the Founding CEO of the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation, and previously a nurse here at The Prince of Wales Hospital. I have been at POWH since 1999, and have loved every minute of it.
This tax time the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation needs your help to provide the Urology department staff with vital pieces of equipment. As technology is always changing for the better, we need to stay abreast of the these changes to provide our patients with the latest equipment, to give the best care possible.
I am honoured to have the support of Kylee who is such an inspiration. I am so glad that the dedicated staff at Prince of Wales Hospital have been able to give Kylee a much better quality of life. By Kylee sharing her story, she is making a difference.
You can be like Kylee, as your support will make a difference too. You will help our other patients such as new mums, prostate and bladder cancer patients and of course our MS and spinal patients. ( remembering we have a specialised acute spinal cord injury unit)
I thank you in anticipation for helping us provide the best care possible to those who need it the most.
You can stay in the loop.
