Archived: IMPERFECT LISTENING: post-noise meditations for a loud world Ten years after having sold all their instruments, empty handed therefore hit the road to record a new album of them listening.

About this project

therefore will spend this summer on the road recording the new album, Imperfect Listening. When they played their final show ten years ago, they sold their instruments and left the rest on the curb. After ten quiet years, therefore return with digital recorders only. This summer they will go on tour to visit seminal locations of the band’s history. Performing no concerts, they will capture the incidental sounds of their journey and edit these recordings into an audio landscape to be released on limited edition vinyl.

Risks and challenges

The risks and challenges on this project are limited beyond the basic need for funding. Having existed as a band for ten years, therefore are well versed in recording, distribution, and project completion. The itinerary has been set and all necessary reservations for lodging and travel have been made. If in the event weather or political upheaval prevent the scheduled itinerary we will reschedule for a later date that still provides ample time to record, mix and manufacture the vinyl for the rewards.

Backers can anticipate receiving their vinyl reward within one year from the funding launch. Vinyl production can have a slow turnaround time, even up to 16 weeks depending upon industry demands. Mixing and mastering will be completed by winter, thus allowing spring/summer delivery.
