I am a single mother of a very smart and clinically gifted 10 year old son. While working in corporate America I was working on average 10 to 12 hours a day. My son suffered greatly as I was not physically available and when I was, I was no longer emotionally available. His schooling suffered in the process but I felt I had no choice but to continue to work so I could provide for my son.
In 2015 I was laid off from my job because they relocated out of the country. Due to my circumstances with an elderly father I could not relocate. I took two weeks to process my new life change and brainstorm a way that I could spend more quality time with my son as well as provide for him financially. Because I have a passion for cleaning I decided on starting a cleaning business. Organically, I advertised door to door and relied on word of mouth. My main goal was to effectively clean homes and businesses the most eco-friendly way possible as well as give the client a relaxing cleaning experience like nothing they’ve ever had before. Eventually, my business began to grow and I hired my first employee. My son has excelled in school and now attends a math, science and engineering school. I am extremely proud of him and continue to desire the best for him.
As I continue to grow and with the help of a Kiva loan I am determined to empower the women who mostly apply for the cleaning positions. Through personal growth and development, I am hopeful my success and that of my team will be eminent.
