The board is an abstract planet earth composed of all dominant habitats, oceans, forests, grasslands, deserts and industrial human footprint of all major industrial sectors. The present and near future of habitats is in play. Humans at risk. Heroes needed.
Includes full set of components and rules to play ‘Optimistic’ (Basic) and ‘Challenge’ (Advanced) modes.

Humans… …We have a problem…
Year: 2017. Its been long since humans of the industrial age triggered environmental catastrophe on earth and we are running out of time to reverse it.
This sophisticated time machine was made to explore the challenging paths to 2050
Gather around it and try to re-establish natures balance and avert climate change
“Nature shrinks as capital grows. The growth of the market cannot solve the very crisis it creates.” ― Vandana Shiva
Up to 4 players, each controlling a territory with 5 industry sectors that need to be transformed, source renewable energy, regenerate and protect the landscape as soon as possible. It’s 2017 only 12 rounds to go, its time for action… …Big Industry Sectors are big contributors to the economy, generate gains (cards) but they do it at the expense of nature, continuing to use huge amounts of fossil fuels, degrading the soil, polluting air and water. Continuing to melt polar and glacier ice round after round.
All that creates biodiversity loss and environmental degradation, the cause of climate change and all its consequences, natural disasters and man made disasters that need to be contained or degradation will spread accelerating climate change.
invest in better environmental policy and improvement projects, manage strategic partnerships with sectors abroad.
The challenge is as big as the planet so big actions are required, only when full sets of Industry Sectors are improved, Energy Stations replaced and vast land sections regenerated is when we will see healthier territories and ice back in the poles, stabilizing the climate. can we do all of it before 2050?
The player that ends with a better territory by 2050 will have more Ice cap/Glaciers and wins the game. All players could lose too when reaching the lower limit of ice.
This game tells the story of the global environmental crisis we are all in and what needs to be done to ease it. The theme is relevant on a global scale and as its under attack by many greedy powerful groups, so we need every available outlet to communicate the message.
The cultural relevance of games sometimes goes unnoticed but board games go deep into peoples homes and bring all sorts of subjects to the table, from solving puzzles and having a laugh to intense battles for expansion through war or economy, reinforcing those concepts. While a notably absent subject (with few exceptions) in game culture is the relation between industry and economy vs the environment. I believe this is a good opportunity to have environmentalists who haven’t, dive into the game world and for gamers who weren’t very interested in this topic to give it a try. Teachers, students, friends and families, a game for all.
Although abstract, the game simulates real conditions on earth by representing close to reality proportions of types of land, most evident land damaging industry sectors, its energy sources and man made and natural disasters. While pointing out the route of scape with the most obvious solutions, starting with will of the people, will to change dysfunctional economic and corrupt political systems. A challenge that needs to be accepted and won if humanity is to survive.
In succeeding the FNF web site will include a page with links of 2050 game rules related to over 200 recent papers and articles from great reporters, organizations and scientists describing fundaments to the rule.
I am fortunate to be working full time on this project, taking care of every step and intend to do so until completion. I am confident of a great result while collaborating with a great team of experienced producers in Europe, we are making sure everything is within budget and production-delivery times are within estimated goal.
Reaching the Stretch Goal would make the founding of Fiction Non Fiction possible, a platform focused on the creation of board games with themes that combine important social and environmental issues presented in abstract cohesive ways integrating smart and fun gaming tools.
Also of interest for FNF future projects will be finding best possible environmental techniques and materials for game production and packaging, apply it to our games, help promote and make it available to others whenever possible.
5% Proceedings commited to fund Protection and Regeneration Projects.
Budget:
The majority of the money goes to Production, an estimate of 60-65% then some taxes, Kickstarter, post production logistics and the rest for team that helped complete the project all hoping we get some fun and games as we all contributed time and money to it.
Thank you for supporting this project!
Sincerely,
Alan
