This group of six members is part of a Banc villageois that was formed in March of 1995. It brings together women who are supportive of each other and who work in small-scale retail and livestock raising.
Khoudia, standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised, is the featured borrower. She is 33 years old, married, and the mother of seven children, among them five daughters. She has been working at livestock raising for eight years.
With her loan, she intends to buy pigs that she will raise and resell at the end of four or five months. With the profits, she hopes to pay her children’s school fees.
