Thirty-year-old Patricia is a single mother to a toddler
who is three years old. They reside in Lusaka. Patricia has been trying her hand at numerous business ventures in order to maintain an income to support herself and her baby. With the scarcity of employment, Patricia has found herself an opportunity with Zoona to capitalize on the entrepreneurial support they offer their Zoona agents.
Patricia will offer money transfers and airtime services. She will do all of her customers’ transactions using a mobile phone, allowing her clients to send money around Zambia and top up airtime in an easy, quick and safe manner. With every transaction, Patricia will be generating her income. Patricia reaches out to Kiva as she lacks the finances for her new business venture. This loan will help her with the needed float/cash on hand for her customers who collect cash that has been sent from their family members in other areas of Zambia.
She is excited that not only will she be attaining an income but she will be helping her community against financial exclusion, which is crucial to boosting the local economy.
Patricia has big plans to grow her business within the next year. This business will help Patricia see to her and her toddler’s basic needs and save for their future. Thanking all Kiva lenders in advance for their assistance with her first loan request.
