Standard models are made of durable lightweight ‘internally ribbed’ orange polycarbonate-ABS with stainless and brass hardware for the tool belt.
Pro models are made of clear anodised ‘internally ribbed’ aluminium with laser etched detail, stainless and brass hardware.
Metric and Imperial variants in both standard and pro are available for pre order.
Imperial Roofus with inner rise/run scale, degree scale and hip-valley scale.
The Roofus combines the functionality of a combination square, bevel, protractor, digital level and speed square, plus many very useful exclusive features in one compact easy to use tool.
Determine any angle from just one surface regardless of the surface orientation
Obtain physical accurate plumb cuts, birds mouth depth marks and seat cuts, without changing the tool’s configuration.
Set hip and valley rafter cuts fast by simply flipping the tool over and using the reverse side scale
For detailed information on the full set of Roofus features, see the campaign images, visit www.roofus.tools, or download the brochure (note the brochure shows photos of an earlier prototype).
Roofus comes in two models. The standard model is moulded from high strength polycarbonate/ABS. The pro model is internally ribbed light weight clear anodised aluminium. Rulers are 301 grade stainless steel. Each model comes in US and Metric variants. US variants include an internal rise/run scale in addition to the external degree scale and hip-valley scale. US models are fitted with a 14″ ruler, Metric models are fitted with a 350mm ruler.
The costs of tooling up for production are high, so we need to secure pre-orders before we can start production. By pre-ordering a Roofus, you are helping to make the Roofus become a reality. Your pre-order dollars or donation pledge go towards:
We want to be sure that the tool we deliver lives up to expectations. We’ve tested our prototypes for over a year on building sites and have made lots of small refinements. We have made a huge effort to maintain the highest quality for the right price and have strived to achieve the best accuracy in all fields. There are always challenges that arise when creating and manufacturing a brand new product as you are often entering unknown territory. We are very confident that we have already worked though the hardship of the manufacture process, and don’t expect to find any challenges that can’t be overcome.
I’m Sean Pepper a carpenter from Western Australia. As an apprentice roof carpenter, I noticed a problem with the layout process of building material, most importantly rafters. There were too many tools needed to complete such a simple task, I wanted one layout tool that could do it all, but it didn’t exist. So I decided to invent one. It began with many drawings and sketches on scrap paper as an apprentice and developed into a series of prototypes. Most of them once lived in my tool belt and were used on site until the next prototype took it’s place. It took 7 years, 15 working prototypes, and a lot of really hard work to reach the final design.
A donation of even the smallest amount can go a very long way as it’s not just you that’s donating. Any small donation would be hugely appreciated as every bit counts and will help get my invention to market around the globe. If you just can’t contribute right now, or you have but want to help out more, please share our campaign using the social media share buttons, and best of all, help out by ‘liking’ us on Facebook and tagging all your friends that might be interested in the Roofus.
