Koum Tara band is a meeting of four musical universe around the same project, created and managed by the pianist composer Karim Maurice : traditional music Chaâbi, classical string quartet, current music and jazz. The repertoire of Chaâbi algerian singer Sid Ahmed Belksier was a true inspiration for this project.
Those musical themes have been worked, put out of shape, re-harmonized, restructured in order to build a crossroad of all cultures in a mixed show. Each musician gave his own identity and his specific skills for this project.
An authentic cultural trip offering unique combination of music and true fusion of styles thanks to the diversity of the band.
Poetry and Chaâbi traditional melodies merge with the tradition of occidental string quartet, jazz improvisation and electronic music.
At a time when humanity, respect for cultures and tolerance appear to be necessary values in order to establish a better world, this show offers a musical universe where everybody can contribute to build his identity, his cultural heritage and his originality to share his love of singing the universal language of the world : music.

La Camerata is an unconventional musical ensemble: 20 musicians from Lyon, play music, standing, without any conductor. It is an orchestra which plays like a chamber music ensemble: involved, dynamic, and free. Their lively looks offer communicative emotions that can be felt both on stage and in the theatre.
Since 2004 they interpret with fervour the musical works of Schönberg, Bartok, Dvorak, Mozart, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Britten, Schubert, Shostakovich, crossing the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and traveling, among others, to New York, Portugal or Lithuania…
Created by Gaël Rassaert(artistic director and concertmaster) with, for many years, the financial assistance of the Spedidam, La Camerata is distinguished by an original artistic line, free of hierarchical functioning inherited from the nineteenth century: it favours a more participatory and democratic work and commitment.
La Camerata is also a variable geometry, which also enjoys mixed projects. These new complementary repertoires take it to other paths, to other music made of encounters: Jazz music, traditional music (Algeria, Argentina, Chile…), and contemporary music (orders and creations).
Since 2012, this ensemble also offers several new creative projects around images, such as the recording of film music or cinema screening with live-music. Since 2016 it also elaborates projects combining music and tales.
