At PLOT 22 we believe access to land for growing food to share should be available for all. Many people in Brighton & Hove have no access to a garden or allotment and we want to change that. Gardening shared land keeps us connected to the natural world, other people and the food we eat – it makes us happy! Let’s work together to create opportunities all year round.
Why are we asking for pledges?
We are inviting all our volunteer gardeners and new people too to pledge as Friends. This crowd funding campaign is a response to the hundreds of requests for PLOT 22 to host more accessible gardening opportunities at weekends, after school and through the summer evenings. Together we can make it possible!
What do you get by becoming a Friend?
When our tipping point of 24 Friends is reached we will provide:
• 4 family friendly seasonal celebration Sundays, including cooking an outdoor meal*.
Our stretch target of 360 Friends will enable us to provide all of these too:
• 8 more weekend garden work days, including cooking an outdoor meal*.
• 44 drop-in friendly Fridays. These will run into the evening during the summer months, and you can come for as long or a little as you like.
• Check out the goals scale below for Friend’s events we will deliver along the way to our stretch target.
What other benefits do Friends get?
• A share of any surplus fresh produce.
• Priority booking on additional PLOT 22 events.
• 6 guest passes to use over the year
• A free fairtrade PLOT 22 canvas tote bag for the first 120 people to pledge.
Sessions will be hosted on a voluntary basis by experienced PLOT 22 gardeners so there will always be someone familiar on site to ask questions and help Friends feel at home.
*All food cooked and shared on site is vegetarian.
What we do:
PLOT 22 nurtures community by creating opportunities for people from all walks of life to grow, cook and eat together outdoors. We create a safe space for connections with each other and this little piece of land to grow and develop over time. And we encourage and celebrate everyone’s contribution to the ongoing, collective creation of our peaceful, abundant and edible oasis.
