A Theatrical Production Celebrating the Lebanese Culture and the Human Spirit in Time of War.
ABOUT THE PLAY
Beirut, a Lebanese girl, grew up witnissing the human suffering a war brings, kneeling before injustice, greed and betrayals time and again only to rise from the ashes of destruction glorious and proud, pure and elegant as the pearl of the Middle East, as Beirut, Lady of Lebanon. She dreamt in her passionate heart that the universe was a home shared by all. Hope sprang from the womb of despair watered by tears of agony. With every drop of blood a soul was revived, a stone was placed, a home was rebuilt. Its doors were made of happiness; its windows were made of gentle wind. In her dream the universe was a kid again. Innocence called us, and we, blinded from any race, color or relegion, yielded to her. Like butterflies we were set free to dance in the field. But it was only a dream. How much more must Beirut suffer? how much more must she sacrifice for her people before our eyes witness the reality of her dream?
The $3000 we are trying to raise through Kickstarter is only a partial of our full budget. As we all know, our play is defined by the financial and creative challenges we must face in order to bring a quality project, to you, our audience, to enjoy and appreciate.
Meeting our financial budget gives us the power and the freedom to hire quality production team, as well as talented actors to carry on the poetic work of Beirut, Lady of Lebanon.
