Golden Dragon 2: The Temple of Flame Collector's Edition: A classic from the heyday of gamebooks, originally published as part of the Golden Dragon series
Hardback, large full-colour Collector’s edition of the Temple of Flame gamebook by Dave Morris. Illustrated by Leo Hartas.
About this project
A classic from the heyday of gamebooks, originally published as part of the Golden Dragon series.
Far below the lost temple of the ancient god Katak, you and your evil foe Damontir the Mad act out a deadly game.
You stalk one another through the silent tunnels where no living thing has trod in centuries, both seeking the priceless gold idol of the flame god.
With skill and daring and a little luck, you can overcome the traps and monstrous beings that stand between you and your goal.
But then you must face Damontir in a mighty conflict to decide who will emerge victorious into the light of day and who will remain in the silent darkness forever.
This is fantasy adventure with a difference: YOU are the hero! A pencil, an eraser and two dice are all you need to embark on your quest. Success and vast riches – or failure and savage death – will depend on the decisions you make.
The Temple of Flame was originally published in 1984 as the second in the classic Golden Dragon gamebook series, and as a pocket paperback black & white book.
Now, more than 30 years later, Golden Dragon 2:The Temple of Flame is back with this deluxe, enlarged, full-colour hardback Collector’s edition by Megara Entertainment we hope to fund on Kickstarter.
And that’s not all!
This edition will be enhanced (under the supervision of original author Dave Morris) with 100 additional sections written by Mark Lain (a gamebook author who is maintaining the blog pagehttp://ffreviewermalthusd.blogspot.com/) and 5 brand new colour illustrations by Leo Hartas, should we unlock stretch goals #1 & #2 (see below).
This deluxe gamebook will have the following features:
Large book size (same than for our other gamebooks previously published on our webstore or on Kickstarter) : 17 cm x 24.4 cm
Hardcover 105 gsm inside paper
All the black-and-white original inside illustrations are being coloured by the same artist from 1984, Leo Hartas. Including fillers!
New hand-made character sheet by Leo Hartas
+100 additional sections written by Mark Lain under the supervision of Dave Morris if the first stretch goal is unlocked.
+5 new colour illustrations by Leo Hartas if the second stretch goal is unlocked.
First stretch goal: Reaching 6000euros. If that happens, we will unlock +100 additional sections for this Temple of Flame Collector’s Edition, written by Mark Lain under the supervision of Dave Morris.
Second stretch goal: Reaching 7000 euros. If that happens, we will unlock 5 brand new colour illustrations by Leo Hartas for this Temple of Flame Collector’s Edition
Thank you for your support!
To finish with, here are the remaining original 1984 drawings by Leo Hartas for this gamebook which will appear in colour in this Collector’s Edition, but which you can also buy exclusively during this Kickstarter with the 500 euros pledge level for 1 original black and white drawing of your choice amongst the ones on this story page.
Risks and challenges
Megara Entertainment has a solid experience of publishing Collector’s hardback gamebooks, with already many released gamebooks and more soon. Therefore the risks are low for this project if we reach our goal.
Furthermore, Megara has already paid and commissioned Leo Hartas to colorize the 1984 original Temple of Flame black & white drawings.
We just need some additional time until May 2017 for Mark Lain to write the 100 additional sections under the supervision of Dave Morris, for Leo to draw the 5 additional illustrations (if the stretch goal have been met) and for Megara to complete the layout of this Collector’s edition, then manufacture the books and ship them to the backers.
Please note that we have a small staff and we are managing several projects at a time, so we do our best but sometimes a delay can happen. In which case we always try to inform our backers the best we can about our progress anyway!
