Clevery compact baby products that give parents convenience and freedom.

Quick Pitch

Bitybean, LLC. is a socially conscious Vermont company dedicated to the mission of helping families get outside and explore their world together.  The business was founded in 2012 by CEO Doug Hartwell to solve a pain point identified when out and about with his own daughter. He developed an Ultracompact baby carrier that weighs just 8 oz and when stowed is about the size of a childs water bottle and has garnered numerous awards and accolades. Bitybean has been involved in the development of baby products since its formation.

Product/Service Details

Bitybean’s launch product is a comfortable, convenient, and thoughtfully engineered UltraCompact baby carrier for parents with on-the-go lifestyles. Our baby carrier combines user-centric development philosophy, state-of-the-art materials, and optimized design to create a carrier that weighs only 8 ounces and easily compresses to the size of a child’s water bottle for portability.

Bitybean’s carrier is designed for front and back use for babies 3 months and 8lb up to 40lb. It provides full knee-to knee support for baby, evenly distributing their weight and placing their legs in an optimum spread-squat position. It also evenly distributes baby’s weight between the parent’s shoulders and hips comfort and the shoulder straps are an ergonomic s-curve shape.

The carrier has been fully safety tested to all required CPSC/ASTM safety standards by a third party laboratory. With a 40″ waist belt this sturdy carrier comfortably fits parents from women’s size 0 to men’s size XL. And because of the lightweight and water wicking materials it is cool for summer, machine washable, and can even be used safely at the beach or pool.

Bitybean’s UltraCompact Baby Carrier is available in five colors and with 3 accessories: a sleep/shade hood, a fleece infant liner and a waist belt extender.

Traction & Accomplishments

Bitybean’s Baby Carrier is currently available in ~175 stores, dozens of online retailers, and has distributors in 7 countries. Following our successful pilot phase in 2013 where we sold out faster than expected, we sold 5500 units in 2014 and 8200 units in 2015, a strong 50% increase. Our carrier has received rave reviews from users, retailers, and the online “mommy blogger” community. Bitybean has also received industry awards including a JPMA Innovation Award, a “Best in Show” award at the NY Baby Show, and was named the “Best Value” in FitPregnancy Magazine’s Baby Carrier Buyers Guide.

We have also won a number of advertising awards including the Family Review Center – Best of the year, Cribsie Awards – New Arrival Award, and Mom Trends must haves -Best Lightweight Carrier.

Finally we were recently awarded a full US utility patent for our unique carrier design, and a trademark for the tradename Bitybean.
