Hill Counseling began as a collaboration between two therapists to rent an office and help those in need, although the therapists’ jobs were still at agencies. In 2015, a third therapist joined, and Hill Counseling LLC was officially formed. Since then, there has been rapid growth, as we are now treating over 100 clients. Because of this, more therapists were hired and more offices were rented. Due to our range of specialists, lack of a waiting list, and availability to provide free therapy through our interns, we hardly turn people away.
We treat anxiety, depression, addictions, marital issues, behavioral issues (children/adolescents), mood disorders, grief/life changes, social anxiety, LGBTQ issues as well as stress management, life and business coaching. We also have therapists who are practicing the expressive arts (music, art, movement and play therapy).
We are one of the only practices in the area that do not have a waiting list, that have an ongoing DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) informed group, and that provide pro bono services (free) through our graduate interns under the supervision of a licensed therapist, which allows us to serve those who cannot pay or have insurance we cannot accept. This is what we are most proud of – that we can provide therapy regardless of someone’s financial circumstances, age or emotional need. The only reason we are in this business is to help people know themselves, no matter how long it takes. This is why we’re here.
Currently our biggest challenge is space. As we can have up to 20 – 30 appointments per day, we are quickly outgrowing the 2 offices and conference room we have to use. Our most important future goal is to help as many people as possible, and to be able to streamline paperwork by hiring professionals to manage it.
This loan would serve two purposes. The first would be to pay rent for offices so that we can keep up with the influx of clients and have space for the interns to continue seeing clients for free. The second would be hiring a professional to streamline our paperwork (which includes submitting claims to insurance companies, paying employees, working with the billing company, etc) and organizing our entire database into a user-friendly way. This is so therapists spend as little time as possible sifting through progress notes, treatment plans, intake paperwork and submitting billing, so that they can spend as much time as possible on the healing process with clients.
We would loosely divide the loan by half, one for each goal. We are currently getting an estimate on the database overhaul, and will update the lenders once we find out.
