New type of online encyclopedia
Internet Software & Services
Los Angeles, CA
Everipedia is the next stage in the evolution of the internet.
It combines the best elements of Wikipedia, Reddit, and Google into one massive encyclopedia of human knowledge and searchable content.
It aims to make what Wikipedia tried and failed to do: a completely open platform where anyone (not just a few thousand editors) can contribute text, sources, images, and videos for a much richer encyclopedia experience.
There are no gatekeepers and no information elites.
You can create your own page about something you love, have it “up-voted” by the crowd, and contribute to what the company envisions as the largest information database in the world.
– Company was hatched just 15 months ago in a dorm room at UCLA.
– Backed by venture capital firm, Mucker Capital, whose portfolio includes Task Rabbit and Trunk Club.
– 1.8 million monthly unique visitors.
– Already making money.
– Founder Mahbod’s previous company, Genius, is valued at close to $1 billion. Genius investors include Andreessen Horowitz.
– It’s one of the fastest growing sites in the world. Currently ranked 33,295, up from 1,900,000 in July 2015.
As Huffington Post reported, top-notch VC Marc Andreessen “… has called the company’s founder, ‘The greatest community manager since Caterina Fake of Flickr.’ – That’s real.”
The company is using crowdfunding to raise capital so it can give investors who share its vision the opportunity to join its community and take part in the value they’re helping to create.
