Ebio is a clean tech start up with a technology to increase ethanol production. We help ethanol producers increase efficiency and profitability. Ebio adds 20% in ethanol production to the U.S. industry that currently produces 15 billion gallons per year. It is a global market opportunity with the current U.S. market alone accounting for $50 billion and is projected to double by 2022. We are raising $500,000 for pilot testing to be done at an engineering firm that would eventually become our technology partner who can take our technology from pilot testing all the way to commercialization.
Ebio has developed the patent-pending Alcoli™ process that converts fermented waste from ethanol plants to ethanol. The process is based on the only known bacterium that converts yeast waste to ethanol without adding additional sugar. It can increase ethanol production by 20% with no additional feedstock and minimal impact on the quality and quantity of the production of bi-product (Distiller’s Grain). It is effective for corn, cellulosic & sugarcane based ethanol production, and can be integrated into new plant designs or retrofitted into existing plants.
The addition of the Alcoli™ process will require capital expenditures between $5 and $10 million for a typical 100 million gallon per year ethanol plant, and yield $20 million in additional annual earnings from increased ethanol production or lower feedstock costs, for a payback period of about 6 months. The process has been validated and tested at lab scale. Ebio’s patent pending Alcoli™ is the only known bacterium that converts yeast waste to ethanol. Ebio is patenting the organism and will file additional patents to protect the process. Ebio will have a unique proprietary position in the market that isn’t matched by any know competitors.
Ebio will develop and license the technology to owners and operators of ethanol plants worldwide. Once validated at pilot scale, Ebio will partner with a leading technology licensing company to develop the licensing business.
The biofuel industry has struggled to be profitable because of the high cost of production. The Alcoli™ system can save ethanol producers tens of millions of dollars each year.
Trent Nguyen holds a Ph.D. in biomedical science with over twenty years of industry experience. Trent’s technological expertise is essential to Ebio’s core competency, the Alcoli system. As Ebio’s founder and President & CEO, he intends to advance and commercialize the technology to its full potential.
