I am a single mom born and raised in South Carolina. Eight years ago I earned my doctorate in Educational Psychology. Five and a half years ago I adopted my son. He is now 10 years old. We currently live in Maryland and I work for one of the school districts. Well, that’s my day job. Additionally, I do photography, sell promotional items and design team uniforms and fan wear. Primarily, I do all of these things for youth leagues. Ironically enough I actually entered the design and promotional world while I was teaching middle school more than 15 years ago. I have a very competitive nature and made a huge deal about my class participating in and winning the most field day events. This became an annual affair and I wanted my students to have apparel for the day. So, we became the “Porchea’s Playaz” and dawned embroidered visors, t-shirts, basketball shorts and even waved around screen printed rowdy rags!! We were winners and looked the part!! Of course other teachers became interested in having apparel for their classes as well and an entrepreneur was born. I not only provided apparel for field day, I began going out to other schools obtaining orders for school t-shirts etc.
In my mind, it’s just a matter of time. If I can successfully earn a doctorate, and parent my son; Nothing will stop me from being a successful business woman!!

More about this loan
Ellareuu designs jewelry, accessories and apparel using the finest materials and best processes in the industry. Ellareuu’s initial offering will be a line of luxury watches that highlight the beauty of natural wood. Ellareuu came into existence in January of 2016 when while preparing a presentation of promotional items for a potential client I discovered wooden watch manufacturing. As a person who has always adored watches and has spent quite a sum (at least to me) purchasing expensive watches my interest was immediately piqued. After doing some research I contacted a manufacturer and purchased several stock watches so that I could see what these wood watches were all about. Upon receipt I shared the watches with a few friends to get some feedback and the response was amazing. I literally ended up selling watches on the spot. While I liked the watches I personally wanted something more luxurious. So, I worked with the manufacturer to come up with my own designs and had them produced. My most proud moment was opening the package when they arrived and seeing my design come to life. A friend then shared my design and a store owner requested a meeting. That meeting ended with the offer of a consignment deal for placement of my designs in 5 physical locations in 5 different malls across the state of Maryland. Now, my biggest challenge is getting the first order of watches manufactured so that they are in stores by November. The owner has agreed to provide marketing via social and print media and has more than 50,000 followers. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and my only barrier is funding. In the future my plans are to produce additional jewelry designs and add other accessories and apparel to the Ellareuu line.
What is the purpose of this loan?
This loan will give my business a running start. As I already have a distribution deal for 5 jewelry stores in major malls across Maryland obtaining stock to fulfill requirements is crucial. This funding will allow placement of my watches in these stores beginning mid November which is the first month of the largest annual jewelry sales across the industry. Additionally, this loan will allow me to pay product import certification fees and complete product testing. This opportunity stands to produce revenue exceeding 300% of my initial investment and potentially allow me to run the business full time. Running this business full time will put me in a position where I can spend much more time with my son and still begin building generational wealth and a legacy of developing unique, timeless, quality products and providing a phenomenal customer experience.
