Benkadi Group’s story
Mahamed is a livestock farmer of sheep. He is a Malian, 39 years old, married, and the father of two children, aged 2 and 5 years. He is the one holding the ram’s horn in the photo. His wife is a homemaker. He has been in this trade for three years. He gets his supplies of livestock at the markets in town, where he sells too.
He is requesting a loan from RMCR to increase his herd of sheep to fatten, so as to earn more money to cope with family needs (school fees and healthcare).
His dream is to be a major livestock farmers in the area and to be useful to the community.

Réseau de Micro-institutions de Croissance de Revenus (RMCR) is an NGO that provides credit to low-income communities in rural Mali. The organization offers community bank loans, from which borrowers can graduate to solidarity groups, and from there to individual loans. RMCR customizes the loans it offers in order to fit the unique business cycles of livestock, farming, and commerce activities.
