A compelling, fun and inspiring must-read for anyone who has run or aspires to run the world’s most coveted race, the Boston Marathon.
Almost since I started running 18 years ago, my dream was to complete the most coveted race in the world, the Boston Marathon. But just when I got fast enough to qualify, the bar was raised. The qualifying thresholds were increased. To get into Boston, I had to get faster.
The Long Road to Boston is the culmination of two long and meaningful journeys: first, a multi-year quest of thousands of miles of running and travel and several failed attempts in my pursuit of a qualifying time to get me into Boston, and second, an 18-month mission to capture in writing the significance of the marathon, the singular history and allure of Boston and why we inflict ourselves with running goals.
I’m weeks away from publishing and marketing the book but it’s more of a labour of love than a business venture. To bring this project across the finish line, I’ll need a bit of support. I hope I can count on yours.
Publishing a book is not easy or cheap. And there’s risk involved. You have to invest up front in production, marketing and promotion. You print a lot of books and then you sell them one at a time. Having a few extra resources to cover some of the costs of publication and marketing will offset the risk and go a long way to making this a successful project.
