I grew up with the experience of eating dinner with my family. The dinner hour was special in so many ways. Not only did we nourish our bodies but our minds as well. My parents knew all of my friends without having met half of them, we all knew who my sister was going to the dance with and we heard discussions about politics and social issues as they were debated and explained.
My interest with DinnerUp is to support the family dinner hour in today’s fast paced and demanding world. Gathering around the dinner table can change the world. I conceived of the idea while working as a waiter at a family restaurant. I noticed how many people were getting carry-out for their families. The idea grew as I noticed how hard it was as a single parent working to have that dinner hour. I knew the benefit from experience and research shows how important that socialization is. It is the oldest social networking event known to humankind.
I have rebuilt my life, remarried, doted on my children while instilling a sense of responsibility and service by showing by example how to not be a victim and live an exemplary life. Supporting the family dinner hour by making it convenient to gather around the table with your love ones builds that intention.
