ULTIMATE CHARITY THROWDOWN for the MACC Fund
The AUDL and E.R.I.C. invite you to a good ‘ol fashioned Midwest throwdown to support the MACC Fund
The AUDL and E.R.I.C. invite you to join the Ultimate Charity Throwdown! Raise money and awareness for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund) as they celebrate their 40th anniversary of raising funds to support research in funding a cure for pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
ULTIMATE CHARITY THROWDOWN supporting the MACC Fund
hosted by the AUDL and E.R.I.C.
The (AUDL) American Ultimate Disc League’s mission is to showcase the incredible sport of Ultimate to the world, while making a positive impact on our communities.
In celebration of the AUDL Championships coming to Madison, WI on August 6th and 7th, the AUDL & charity partner E.R.I.C. (Early Recognition is Critical) are supporting an extraordinary Wisconsin based non-profit, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (the MACC Fund). As the MACC Fund celebrates their 40th anniversary of raising funds to support research for pediatric cancer and blood disorders, the AUDL & E.R.I.C. are thrilled to host the inaugural Ultimate Charity Throwdown, where 100% of the proceeds will go to the MACC Fund.

…But acronyms and long explanations aside– we just want to use our sport to bring our amazing community together to support in finding a cure for childhood cancer.
And that mission begins with a ‘Good ‘Ol-fashioned Midwest Throwdown’.
Like any good ‘ol-fashioned Midwest throwdown (say that three times in a row, we dare you), the event will be based around a few head-head throwing challenges – think frisbee meets H.O.R.S.E. Four teams, made up of a fan and an AUDL All-Star, will compete. We’ve asked our pros to design the challenges which is basically a guarantee for entertainment and events worth snapchatting. So far we’ve been asked to install a zipline, heard rumblings of an epic throw from over the stadium and a 0 gravity hoverboard finale.
Ok the last one is a lie, but there’s really no telling how far they’ll take it! And that’s half the fun.
How can you get in on the throwdown action?
By contributing to this crowdfunding page you will be eligible to compete to be one of the four contestants in the Throwdown. Yes, this is your disc throwing chance at stardom.
Beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday August 6th (1 hour prior to the first semi-final game) you’ll take a shot at throwing discs to drop AUDL Commissioner, Steve Gordon, into a dunk tank. We will run heats until the final four competitors have qualified.
WAIT! THERE’S A WAY THAT YOU CAN SKIP THE QUALIFIER AND GO STRAIGHT INTO THE EVENT?!
Yes, the rumors are true. By purchasing the Straight into the Throwdown perk (2 available), you can secure one of the four spots without having to participate in the qualifier. For this mighty generous contribution, you can also pick your pro partner and you’ll receive a disc signed by the Championship team and a replica jersey of your choice.
The Format of the Throwdown:
The first round matches will take place at halftime of Saturday’s semi-final games, with the winners “Throw[ing]down” during halftime of Sunday’s final match.
The AUDL kindly asks you to consider making a contribution to support the MACC Fund … and we will match the first $5,000 contributed. We hope to see you under the bright lights in August to “Throwdown” with the AUDL’s top stars!
More About the MACC Fund and E.R.I.C.:
MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer)
Founded by legendary Milwaukee Buck, Jon McGlocklin, the MACC Fund is supported by some of the Midwest’s most respected athletes including Green Bay Packers star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Childhood cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death in children after the newborn period. Since its inception in 1976, the MACC Fund has contributed over $55 million to pediatric cancer and blood disorders research in Wisconsin. This research is conducted in the MACC Fund Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and in the MACC Fund Childhood Cancer Research Wing at the University of Wisconsin’s Carbone Cancer Center. This Wisconsin based research impacts the treatment and care of children throughout the state, the nation and the world. Celebrating its 40th year in 2016, the MACC Fund is helping to play an important role in raising the overall cure rate for childhood cancer from 20% to 80% in the past four decades. Yet even children in the 80% category can relapse and have “late effect” issues which require additional research.
