Polly Pop is a fast paced action film. It centres around one night, a young notorious smuggler named Polly Pop has only eight minutes to reach the other side of a sprawling metropolis. In order to ensure his success he is forced to wear a headpiece which times his run by pumping music into his brain. If the music stops before he reaches his destination, or if he intervenes in anyway his head will blow. This alongside the hidden dangers of the dark city, come together to form an intense suicide mission forcing Polly Pop to rise up to meet his fate.
Polly Pop is heavily inspired by 80’s cult cinema with such films as The Warriors, Escape From New York and Blade Runner. As well as graphic novels such as Watchmen, Retro new wave music and the vibrant 80’s pop culture. Each individual concept and character has been crafted with all these inspirations plus more in mind, in order to create an alternate reality teaming with its own elaborate cultures, other worldly atmosphere and crazy inhabitants.
Polly Pop is a student film directed by Lachlan Bain and produced by Vivian Lin, both of The University of Technology Sydney. We have stunt choreography by Ali Kadhim from Team 9 Lives (http://team9lives.com/) and the film will be featuring music tracks from both our talented Sound Designer Sam Whittaker and Synthwave artist The Foreign (https://soundcloud.com/theforeign).

We would love to create a film that we could submit to film festivals. Like all films, the most difficult challenge is raising enough funds to achieve this, and we appreciate any donations!
