Business Description
Robert Randall Productions is a commercial photography, film and video production company based in San Diego & Avon, CO. We specialize in creating powerful visual advertising content for business with an emphasis on Fitness, Lifestyle, Fashion, Activewear, Sports & Beauty and work, primarily on location.
Our customers vary from individual athletes, personal trainers & fitness models seeking to promote their brands up to and including small, medium and large clients needed fitness, fashion sports and active lifestyle photography for advertising. We have worked for and continue to have some clients as large as Speedo, Nordstrom and France TV but most of our clients are small and mid-sized fitness apparel, nutrition and sports equipment companies such as Tonic Tennis, BiPro USA and Keeptight Apparel. We also shoot magazine work for publications such as Oxygen, The London Times and Fit Magazine.
Robert Randall Productions was founded on January 1, 1992. I was working as a stock broker in Seattle, WA and the sudden death of my brother made me rethink my priorities and it was at that point that I decided that my passion (Photography) had to become my vocation. Photography is an extremely competitive business but my background as a stockbroker turned out to be one of the greatest assets I had. Through years of cold calling, prospecting door to door and marketing on a shoe string budget I have been able to create a reasonable lifestyle doing exactly what I love. Thought 24 years of hard work I have been able to take what was a dream and turn it into something most people would consider a dream job. I do have to admit, unlike so many people… I absolutely love Monday’s.
Robert Randall Productions is profitable but the industry is difficult and requires and immense amount time, effort and capital to stay that way. Other than maxing out my credit cards (the first few years), this business has thrived on a shoe string budget, creativity, side jobs and tons of sweat equity. I have been shooting fitness and sports for almost 20 years now and the fitness industry is now, finally in an explosive growth phase. Fitness apparel, for instance is the fastest growing segment of the entire apparel industry. Because of this, Robert Randall Productions needs additional capital to stay ahead of the curve and front and center with not only the major brands in the space but the onslaught of new and creative businesses cropping up daily in the fitness and health related industries.
What is the purpose of this loan?
Robert Randall Productions needs to increase our advertising budget to position our company as a predominant player regarding photography, film and video production within the fitness, lifestyle, sports and active fashion industries. While we will continue our existing marketing efforts through cold calls, referrals and email marketing, it is essential that we be able to advertise in the industry specific resources where the major brands and agencies go to find creative talent. These include The Workbook (www.workbook.com), AtEdge (www.at-edge.com), Production Paradise (we currently advertise here at www.productionparadise.com) and L’Archive (www.luerzersarchive.com).
This additional advertising will be phased in over a 2 to 3 year period as the costs vary per publication and online portfolios but can average from approximately $1000 per year per publication up to $ 2000 or $ 3000 for their respective print directories. As in all advertising, Robert Randall Productions will be diligent to test thoroughly and settle only on the strategies with the greatest return on investment.
The return on investment can be substantial based on the size of the client and their respective campaign. While our smaller, bread and butter clients may yield $ 1000 to $ 5000 in gross revenue and $ 500 to $1800 in profit for a single day’s shoot. Larger clients (such as those we have worked with in the past) can produce upwards of $60,000 or more in gross revenue and $ 10,000 to $ 20,000 or more in gross profit over a multi-day shoot. Capturing even 5 or 6 of these larger clients per years (especially as repeat clients) would make and extraordinary impact on our business, our ability to hire additional staff and free-lance talent and personally, allow my family to possibly buy another home as we lost our last one in the recession 2008.
