Big Walnut Printing and Shipping
I grew up in the Sunbury Community and graduated from Big Walnut Schools in 1997. I attended college and graduated with an associate in Business management. I then went into the financial services industry and ended up as Assistant Vice President working on a Federal Contract. My career was going great but I also wanted a Family. In 2008 I bought my first home and got married and in 2009 I had my amazing son. I decided to take a step back from my career to be a mom, it is the most rewarding job I could have asked for but I missed working and structures and deadlines and the interactions with others. In 2010 My now ex husband deployed to Afghanistan. I was stuck at home no emotional support, not working and alone. My parents asked me to come run their office for them so I agreed. It gave me a few hours every day to get out of the house but it was a home office so I was still missing the interactions and felt more alone than ever. My son and I started going to our local Kroger and would spend an hour or two there every day. Kroger became our support group. It was amazing the friends we had made and the support the employees gave my son and I but it wasn’t enough. I put together a power point presentation for my father begging him to let me open up a shipping business in his warehouse facility in Sunbury, Ohio. After a lot of consideration, my dad agreed. When my now ex Husband returned from his deployment my father gave me use of his office in his warehouse and $180,000.00 worth of equipment for me to open a printing and shipping shop. He was hoping it would give us as a family a chance to reconnect. My now ex husband had no interest in the business so my son and I made a go at it. A year later I was divorced. I did not know much about the printing and shipping industry but I was excited and willing to learn. I have had my business a little over 5 years now. It is continuing to grow and I’m blessed to be able to work and provide for my son in such a great community.

More about this loan
Big Walnut Printing and Shipping opened up in May of 2011. We offer printing services on paper products, shipping, we are a dealer for yard signs and vinyl banners and offer virtual office services. Currently our biggest challenge is our growth. We are growing and expanding and it has come to a point where we need a functional website to help with the workflow. My customers vary from old time residents who have watched me grow up to contractors, builders, schools, businesses, leadership, and development. I offer a service for all types of needs for the high school projects to the CEO of multi million dollar organizations. My goals are to maximize the growth potential that is available. I want to be able to offer jobs to my community, have a larger facility with more equipment to offer more services. I am most proud of the fact that I beat the odds. I made it past the 5 year point with a profitable business. I have built a business all by myself with little knowledge of running a business or the printing industry as a single mother. I am proud of my accomplishments and the example that I am setting for my son. I am absolutely blessed to own a business and stand next to my peers my friends my fellow business owners whom I have nothing but respect for.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I intend on using the loan to build a functional website. With the website I will be able to reach outside of my small area where my quality products and value pricing will make my business thrive! I expect that my revenue and profits with quadruple with the addition of a website. My business will be impacted in a way that will not only change Big Walnut Printing for the better but allow me to offer jobs within the community and give back to all who have supported me and stood by my side the past 5 years. This loan will change my life. Adding the website and the amount if revenue it would bring would be something that I can’t put into words. I will know that I will be able to pay my bills each month, put food on the table, buy my son clothes and shoes and the things that he needs and wants. Not knowing from month to month if I will get a paycheck or how much I will be able to pay myself is very stressful as a parent. To have that security that yes my bills will be paid and to be able to say to my son that sure we can go get ice cream would be a blessing.
