Eco Electric & PRG provide turnkey energy services to the commercial market — from energy audit and system design to equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning.
We’ve developed a unique blend of factory level procurement, distribution, financing, and technical installation capabilities, enabling our one-of-a-kind comprehensive solution.
We serve two primary markets:
1) commercial, government, and institutional property owners looking to upgrade their facilities and capture energy savings with LED lighting and controls
2) large energy users looking to lower their electricity rates while taking advantage of attractive tax and carbon credits (RECs) with solar energy.
For more than a decade, Eco Electric has delivered successful projects on the east coast to high profile customers, including numerous government agencies, publicly traded real estate companies, schools, retail stores, offices, and multi-unit residential buildings.
Traditional commercial light fixtures represent an average of over 30% of the energy demand for commercial properties. Innovations in LED lights enable property owners to save 50-80% compared to technologies from only five years ago like fluorescent T8s and CFLs. Prices have decreased substantially, creating the perfect storm for mass adoption and hyper growth in the industry for the foreseeable future.
Eco Electric is aiding in this mass adoption.
We work closely with our clients and our global supply chain to develop the optimal solution and provide leading LED and lighting technologies that accomplish four main things:
Solar has also seen rapid growth over the past five years. Two key factors contribute to continued growth moving forward:
Experience is key to winning solar PV projects and with successful commercial, government, and utility scale projects under our belt, Eco Electric is well positioned to leverage that expertise as a developer and/or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractor on projects going forward.
We have a wide range of customers from general contractors and property owners to large government agencies. Examples of projects we have been successful with in the past include:
A public Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) with 300 multi-family properties in the US. Some are garden style with 20 buildings and others are high-rise apartment buildings. Eco Electric provides turnkey design, procurement, and installation of LED lighting retrofits and after sale service on general energy related needs at many of their properties
Or, a government agency such as the State Department contracts Eco Electric to design and build solar PV energy and LED systems to offset the electrical consumption at a US Embassy. Eco Electric can act as the prime contractor or as a subcontractor in this scenario. We have a strong pedigree and track record of performance on US government contracts which is needed to win any type of government work.
High profile customers we have worked with include:
Avalon Bay Communities, Inc. and Equity Residential (both public REITs), Jones Lang and LaSalle, Grand Hyatt, Sheraton, Westin, the Smithsonian, the Holocaust Museum, American University, University of Maryland, Canadian Embassy, the State Department, Department of Defense, National Institute of Health, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Federal Reserve, Federal Aviation Administration, Quantico, National Archives, AND MORE.
On April 22nd, 2014 (Earth Day) Potomac Resources Group (PRG) purchased Eco Electric. Prior to acquisition, Eco Electric had a 12-year track record as an electrical and energy services contractor with numerous commercial and government agency clients. PRG had also built up a large customer base distributing solar PV, LED, and lighting control equipment to the commercial, institutional, and government marketplace.
Now combined, PRG’s background in distribution and Eco Electric’s implementation capabilities allow us to provide turnkey, comprehensive sustainable energy solutions ranging from energy audits, system design, procurement of equipment, and complete installation.
We have leveraged these two companies coming together to increase business with key customers over the past two years, and now plan to leverage our great track record to acquire new customers nationwide.
PRG’s background is in finance and distribution, but over the years, we have formed partnerships with numerous suppliers, engineers, and subcontractors that provide specific niche expertise to support our general offering, including electrical subs, data and communication specialists, designers and engineers, regulatory consultants, and more. We view this as one of our distinct advantages from both a cost and diversified product standpoint.
PRG owns and operates an online marketplace for LED equipment. We are in the process of increasing our exposure of this site through social media and online advertising campaigns in order to implement a “pull” marketing strategy to directly reach target customers nationwide. With the recent launch of our New York and California divisions, the company is well-positioned to leverage its global supply chain and nationwide installation capabilities to service large commercial accounts who do business with us because they found the right products directly on our website and require the full service installation. Regardless of whether we provide the installation service, we will ship anywhere in the US or internationally if the project size merits the effort.
In addition, PRG owns 11% of a solar technology company called SEC Optics, LLC. The company has a utility patent pending on an optical lens technology that redirects sunlight towards the solar cells on a panel during the non-peak hours of production, thus enhancing the efficiency of the solar PV array.
PRG is also in discussions with certain LED manufacturers regarding OEM arrangements, whereby we will develop customized solutions for large customers as needed. We are currently in the process of engineering a custom linear LED product line for under cabinet lighting for the multi-unit apartment market and decorative linear pendant fixtures for the Class A office market.
We just opened our California operation to better service this substantial Avalon Bay contract to retrofit 25 buildings in the San Francisco bay area with LED lighting. In the process, we are launching a full scale marketing effort targeting the west coast.
We also launched a New York based operation to ramp up our delivery capabilities in the tri-state area while we manage the business from our corporate offices in the DC metro area. We plan to open the Texas market this summer, as our CEO comes from Ft. Worth and is well connected there. With large projects under our belt on the east and west coast, followed by a southern expansion, we are well positioned to service large nationwide customers such as real estate developers, hotel chains, retail stores and others who own properties that might benefit from energy efficiency upgrades or solar energy.
