OUR FILM
We are Henry MacLean and Patrick Naughter, rising seniors in the Emerson College BFA program preparing to make our thesis film at the end of this summer.
We’ve been working together since our first year at Emerson and we’re excited to take the knowledge and experience we’ve accumulated and tackle a project that truly excites us.
Our film, The Next Sinatra Will Not Give Up, is the story of two friends and musicians, Owen and Eddie, who seek compensation when they discover a local rapper has sampled a piece of their song. This film is centered on themes of identity formation, masculinity, and the ways in which music offers an avenue for both artificial and genuine self expression.
The project will present a number of artistic challenges and opportunities for us as a team. Henry will serve as both director and lead actor in the film, in addition to creating all the original music you will hear performed by the characters. Patrick will assume the role of director of photography as well as one of the main producers. We will be shooting in Boston, MA during August of this summer with a talented crew of Emerson students.
WITH YOUR HELP…
As mentioned previously, we have worked together on a number of projects over the past three years, all of which have been funded from our pockets. With our thesis film’s larger scope, we need a little help financially to fully realize our vision.
Our campaign goal is $1,500, which we believe, in addition to the funds we will be able to provide independently, will be sufficient to cover the production’s needs. The major expenses this money will go towards are as follows:
30% – Camera/Equipment Rental
30% – Location fees
20% – Transportation
20% – Craft Services
Any amount, no matter how large or small, will be a tremendous help. Just a few dollars can make an impact on the quality of our production and we absolutely thank you for believing in our project and helping us to do what we love.
If a monetary contribution is not possible, we understand completely. If you’d still like to help in some way, sharing our IndieGogo campaign is a great way to spread the word!
