HENRY SAIZ Audiovisual Album Project

10 Places. 10 Songs. A musical journey across the world.

About this project

“Recording synthesizers inside the Great Pyramid in Egypt, traveling to Tokyo to create a track with a virtual singer, composing a theme during a psychotropic trip in the desert of Joshua Tree, playing drums inside the volcanic caves of Lanzarote island or collaborating with a Maasai tribe on a jam techno session – these are just some of the creative challenges I intend to carry out in order to shape an album that promises to be a truly innovative addition to the electronic music scene.’

I’m Henry Saiz, Spanish DJ, producer and live artist who started my career around 10 years ago. I’ve released my tracks on some of the music scene’s most prestigious labels, and I’ve played, solo and with my band, in some of the top clubs and festivals around the world.

After my 2013 debut album ‘Reality Is For Those Who Are Not Strong Enough To Confront Their Dreams’, in 2014 I released the follow-up LP ‘Reality Addendum’. As you can hear from the above video and from my albums, my style goes beyond the usual approach in electronic music, combining pop elements such as vocals with acoustic instruments:

My new project is an ambitious step forward in my career. I’m going to create an album and a film that will be released together in mid-2017 on my label Natura Sonoris. And this is what makes them so special:

The album will be recorded, not just in one, but in many different places around the world. I’ll be writing and producing each of the tracks in a special iconic part of the planet, collecting unique sounds, collaborating with guest musicians and capturing each setting’s unique atmosphere. These are some of the places I plan to go to record the album:

Joshua Tree Desert (California)

Along with the album recording we will shoot a film that is not simply a making-of, but a visual journey including music videos that will help listeners delve deeper into the meaning of the album. The film will be a combination of both documentary and fiction. The purpose of this movie is to invite you to watch the whole process around the world so that your listening experience reaches a new dimension.

In short, I aim to explore the influence of the environment on creativity, to show how an artist can use everything around them as an inspiration to convert this energy into music. The concept of this album is to materialize the essence of each place into a song. I think this is a challenge that will show what I’m truly capable of giving to you, and I hope you’ll want to be involved in making it happen.

I’m surrounded by a tried and trusted team:

My brother Alberto’s production company; they’re a wildlife filmmaking company that produces videos as awesome as this one:

He and his partner Nacho are going to help me shoot the film and get amazing videos, time lapses, aerial shots, etc.

Besides collaborating with me as a singer, Eloy is also an experienced camera operator, film director and editor. So as well as singing on some of the tracks he will be working on the video. As for Luis, I’ve been working with him since we were teenagers. As well as playing the drums, he’s going to collaborate on the music, on writing the lyrics and scripts for the videos.

If you’re wondering what I do with my live band, check our Boiler Room performance below:

So what do I need the money for? This is how I’ve planned the Kickstarter funding:

On the right, you can see all the exciting rewards that are available if you get involved. From the finished album, film and book, to VIP tickets to one of my gigs or a one on one Skype masterclass with me.
