Trust Builders Project

Neighbors have already committed to help build a safe greenspace designed to galvanize the community around clean-fun activities that will bring residents out of the house and begin better cooperation and trust.

Evelyn Stamps Park

A successfully functioning community begins with trust!  Without interaction, you can’t build trust.

This green space/Park will serve as a hub of interaction for one of poorest zip codes in the city.

We have acquired 6 consecutive lots to place:

  • children play area
  • sand box
  • two park benches
  • free little Library
  • horseshoe pit
  • walking track

I have enlisted the help of 4 male neighbors who have committed to provide the labor after the materials have been procured.

The park will be named after Ms. Evelyn Stamps, a lifelong resident of the area who was a highly effective Probation Officer at Juvenile Court for 35 years.  Ms. Stamps, as the current President of the AARP Local Chapter, is still bringing positive change to the North Memphis community.

the steps

  1. Purchase one additional lot
  2. Lay concrete seat for park benches to be secured on
  3. Create walking track outline
  4. Lay gravel/dirt on track
  5. Purchase little free library box (solicit neighbors ideas for desired book selection input)
  6. Dig sand and horseshoe pits
  7. Hopefully get donated playground set
  8. Protective fencing

why we’re doing it

A successfully functioning community begins with trust!  Without interaction, you can’t build trust.

This project is designed to galvanize the community around clean-fun activities that will bring residents out of the house and into the hearts of their fellow neighbors.
