Planning a last minute night out for parents is no simple task. Posting a job, browsing for sitters, waiting for someone to respond, interviewing them, it’s a long and arduous process and can take a lot of time. And if you are able to get a sitter, you’re worrying the entire night if everything is okay at home. When it comes to our kids, parents need to be 110% sure that they are in good hands. This is exactly why last minute plans are impossible for parents: If that night-out hasn’t been planned weeks in advance, it’s probably not happening.
Based in San Francisco, California, Nauroo is a technology company that makes a smartphone app which lets families and parents book on-demand babysitters. Nauroo is committed to create a trusted community marketplace for parents and on demand sitters. The mobile app is incredibly user friendly, Search, Book, Track, Pay, all by one single app. Nauroo’s mobile platform connects people to unique on demand babysitting experiences, with a fixed price per city and subscription free model, getting a babysitter for your last minute plan is reliable & easy like water. Nauroo’s app is the easiest way for parents to find babysitters and for sitters to monetize their time. The app provides parents with the largest selection of vetted and verified local sitters, it presents all qualified options as social profiles with all the information parents need to know before booking them. As the generation of “working parents” continues to grow, high demand will continue to be a contributing factor to the rise in the babysitting industry. Nauroo targets working parents: working couples, single, mothers, single dads, and specially “mompreneurs”
Co-Founder & CEO, Debasish Karmakar said, “I have been traveling around the world on various business assignments. During these constant business trips, I was often accompanied by my wife and son. I saw first hand how difficult it was to find a sitter, especially in a new city where I didn’t know anyone”. An especially difficult time came in Mexico City in December 2014. It was here he had the idea to create an app that would allow him and others to find a babysitter, on-demand, anywhere in the world. An UBER but for babysitting, he thought. Nauroo was born.
Debasish quotes that “Team Nauroo” wants create a secondary income option for everyone. Nauroo is about creating possibilities for parents, sitters and cities. For a sitter who is providing service, our app represents a flexible new way to earn money. For cities, we help strengthen local economies, improve access to new possibilities, and make babysitting safer. He adds, we are not a babysitting company, we are a technology company with a mission to make on-demand childcare easier. It’s no longer a part-time job just for teenagers. Babysitting has now become a part of early child education and is also being adopted by a large number of people like you and me as a reliable secondary income option. As the childcare and babysitting industries continue to skyrocket, the world will need an “UBER for babysitting” – a disruptive technology that reinvents “on-demand” child care services…and Nauroo is exactly that. Nauroo has launched its beta in San Francisco & Bay area and invites parents and sitters to participate in the pilot. After it’s launch in San Francisco, it will expand in 14 cities in United States and plans to go global by 2018, the founders say Nauroo will raise its first round of funding after it proves that the idea can generate revenue.
Nauroo have been bootstrapping since it was found, has a very impressive operating model and calls itself a lean startup. The cofounders took five months to bring a great team together, says Andres Torres, Co-Founder and VP of Product, “we used to sit in a cafe around the corner of a popular street and make calls to designers and developers to interview them, it took us quite a long to recruit the perfect team”.
