Vamos Theatre is the UK’s leading professional full mask theatre company, taking our funny and fearless brand of wordless theatre across the length and breadth of the country since 2006. We don’t just perform at theatres though; we share our skills nationally and internationally in care homes and schools, with NHS staff, teachers, actors, the Deaf community, young people and more, and entertain with our Walkabout performances at festivals and celebrations. At the heart of our ethos is the belief that the wordless skills of our pioneering full mask encourage empathy and understanding in all of us, regardless of who we are.
Verity the Vamos van has done us proud in the last four years, gamely taking on every Welsh hill and northern snow storm, West Country flood and festival mud bath she has been asked to take us through. She’s been our gallant red friend as we’ve toured to over 300 performances in theatres, to 33 care homes, 88 schools and run 186 workshops, and reached 52,963 people nationwide. But Verity has started to show her age, and it’ll soon be time for her to retire to a small field outside Hereford where she can spend the rest of her days sitting in the sun, watching the sheep, and dreaming of her time in the limelight.
Whilst we have some project funding for the work we do, it is up to us to fundraise for Verity’s replacement. We are celebrating Vamos’s tenth anniversary this year, and as part of marking this excellent milestone, we are aiming to raise £4000 – 20% of the cost of a replacement van – and secure our big, red transport for the years to come. Help us to reach our target…we have some great rewards, including the most generous pledge getting to name Verity’s successor (will it begin with a V?)
